Book Description

The gripping new thriller by the author of The Final Days

Product Description

In Atlanta, Charlie Cortez MD diagnoses his mistress with an unknown neurodegenerative disease that is inducing violent and bloody psychosis. The apparent cause? Consumption of infected human flesh...

In Vienna, Dr. Reeta Kapoor, eminent anthropologist, is forced to travel to a remote Indian archipelago in order to rescue her brother - he has become embroiled in a plot to thwart the colonization of a mysterious and scarcely contacted native tribe and is in grave danger...

In Dubai, Kelly Maelzel, in-demand Australian zoologist, is blackmailed into accepting a new job - protecting the visitors to a strange new project. A millionaire philanthropist has created a game reserve where the livestock are particularly violent, unpredictable... and human.

The link: Savage Island, a four-day eastward sail from Chennai and home to the most fearsome legend in the Bay of Bengal; a cannibalistic tribe of natives who ritually destroy anyone unfortunate or foolish enough to set foot on their tropical paradise island. But one megalomaniac wants to sell that paradise to the world. Unfortunately, the natives have other ideas.

Enjoyable 29 July 2011
By Gareth Wilson - Falcata Times Blog TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
With so many thrillers out there aiming more for the Da Vinci Code type vibe, its refreshing when an author takes a new path. What Alex Chance has managed to do with this title is bring cannibalism, action and of course a hidden secret to the fore in this no holds title.

Add to this a great writing style, solid prose and decent characters to keep the reader glued and it was a satisfactory read from the first page to the last, although that said, it does feel like a novel of two halves as the first is more character driven with the second being more action packed. That said, I did have a lot of fun and I'll definitely have to read another title by this author in future.

Superb second novel 22 Oct 2010
By A. Bell
Format:Paperback
Not a sequel to The Final Days as might have been expected. The first half of the book outlines the characters like the spokes of a wheel for the hub of the second where the action and inter-reaction is roller coaster. The characters are believable, fallible and very mortal. There is the sense of menace and tension again with the mystery of the savages being revealed as the climax builds. It could be described as the Jurassic Park for humans, except that it could have been a real example in the history of how native cultures have been wrecked by so called western civilization, and you are left with the question of who really are the savages. Most enjoyable and highly recommended.
