5.0 out of 5 stars Cast the scales from your eyes 20 Jun 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have become something of a fan of Farrell having now managed to read through five of his books including this one. I have several more to go as I try to make sense of his world view and clarify my own. His basic premise is that a hidden group of people controls the world gaining power and money for the sake of it and restricting advanced technology to ensure their future. Their origin was the Third Reich and their wealth came from murdered Jews. I, for one, believe Kennedy was assassinated because he intended to do something about them for the betterment of the majority.

For many years I have believed that persons other than national governments were really pulling the strings because so many things happen that are not in the best interests of the taxpayer or residents of various countries including the UK and the USA. I mentioned disinformation and its effect on serious research of aerial phenomena in my review of "Roswell and the Reich". A similar state exists in science regarding cold fusion and anti-gravity, and in Archaeology, as I found from reading "Forbidden Archaeology" by Michael Cremo and Richard Thompson.

We all know what "serious" historians think about the views of people like Charles L. Hapgood, Graham Hancock, Joseph P. Farrell, or anyone who dares to challenge orthodox views. Apparently there is evidence that humans may have been walking around in shoes up to 55 million years ago and a lot of the accepted fossil record regarding humans is of very dubious provenance, except that if it fits in with the accepted theories it is never challenged. When something anomalous turns up it is "lost" or stored away from prying eyes because so many reputations depend upon the currently accepted views as being the "truth".

5.0 out of 5 stars A history of a breakaway civilization 17 May 2012

I've just started to read the Joseph P Farrell books, although I am familiar with this particular area of research I just love his 'presentation'....... I am working my way through most of them (and nearly there)starting off with the grid of the gods, I was hooked. I love his style of writing, its almost like going to a lecture and i like the idea of having the 'references' on the page, there is so much information crammed into one book that i'm sometimes left with my head spinning but always wanting more. Very fascinating and interesting stuff- I wouldn't say I agree with everything but certainly the majority. I prefer to read his books than watch his blogs etc but i'm probably in the minority there. If you are wondering whether to read his books (because there is lots of dis-information and cultish clap trap out there) just try one and see........i'm sure you'll enjoy.

This is a book that should be taken extremely seriously. It is the most academic book by Farrell I have come across. I am completely “with” Farrell. He is certainly very “up” and tuned in to the current zeitgeist. The book is slightly disjointed; after reading it you should realize why. I agree with Farrell totally regarding the “breakaway civilization” which is a state without boundaries. All of the ills on this planet can be ascribed to this state within a state within a state. He begins with the an appraisal of the work of the historian, Carroll Quigley and Richard M Dolan a ufologist. Quigley believed that civilization is a by- product of the “Sociology of Weapons”; Dolan postulated the idea of a “breakaway civilization” which is literally underground and escapes the gaze of of the topsiders. The only clues as to it’s existence are the ufos which are on occasion exhibited, to the consternation and alarm of humanity.

Farrell comes to this analysis from an alternative science standpoint and of thoughts regarding ancient technology. Why is it that “we”, on the face of the earth regard ourselves as in control of “our” civilization? At the beginning of the book Farrell appears to ascribe this “breakaway civilization” solely to the manipulation of Nazis after the WW2, when Nazi scientists were farmed out to the USSR and the USA. This is a familiar story and cannot in any way be doubted. But the psychotronic weapons of the Nazis are never discussed openly, except by Farrell. He believes that the “extra- terrestrial” hypothesis was a psy- op; a psychological meme implanted in the host states to cover - up the development of advanced electro- propulsive technology on this planet.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unconvincing 7 Sep 2014

Not the easiest book to read and I found most of it unconvincing. Raised some issues of interest but generally consisted of conjecture and unsubstantiated conclusions. I found myself skipping chunks of (to me) uninteresting text.
