Saturday Night Fever is the classic disco movie that everyone was talking about when it hit the UK cinemas in 1978. It is an enjoyable coming of age drama with a great sound track from the wonderfully talented Bee Gees. It is particularly special to me as it defines my teenage years and captures the mood of the late 70s when disco music ruled!
Staying Alive was doing the rounds in 1983. Here Travolta moves from disco to broadway. From what I remember the critics were a lot kinder to it back then than they are nowadays. Maybe it hasn't quite stood the test of time. It is nevertheless a watchable movie to me with lots of energetic dance moves even though both story and soundtrack are less memorable.
This is a neat little set that's handy for those who want to own both films, me included.
