Great Blu-ray ! 2 May 2009
Format:Blu-ray
Saturday night fever is one of my all time favourite films so when the blu ray release was finally announced after being delayed for over a year ! i was really pleased. I have just recived the u.s release which is identical to the u.k one and thought id post my thoughts.

Picture. Wow paramount have done a good job on this! ive seen SNF countless times on VHS,DVD,TV but ive never seen it look this good! It won't wow you say like a recent film will but given this is 30 yrs old + its a revelation. Colors have more pop, depth and clarity to the image is very apparent and fine detail in close up looks amazing. 4/5

Sound. Now i dont have a DTS-HD/Dolby HD receiver/decoder,just a regular DD/DTS one but the sound was very good and a higher bit rate from the dvd.

Extras. Disappointingly paramount have just ported all the extras over from the 30th anniversary edition dvd a couple of yrs back and nothing else. Personally i found the original 25th anniversary dvd release superior giving that it had the excellent VH1 documentary which was pretty in depth..but alas this has been ditched again. The extras are good but are lightweight compared to the old VH1 documantary. The best is the "music of fever" with the bee gees and "Back to bay ridge" which has supporting star joeseph cali revisit all the old locations used today! Please note that all the extras are in 1080i HD !!

Verdict.. A wonderful transfer, good audio and good but not amazing extras should make this a no brainer!

The fever lives on !

This is one of the best transfers and pressings I have seen. The picture quality is crisp, the audio is crystal clear. The quality is so good, it looks like it was made yesterday! With a fair selection of extra features, you will not be disappointed. If you are a fan of this movie or would like to see it for the first time, buy this and thank me afterwards. Truly superb! 5*****

A True 70s Classic ! 18 April 2010
By E. Smith TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Blu-ray
I remember how unbelievably massive this was in 1977, but I thought I was too cool to see it. It was always a part of my youth, though, and I got the DVD when it came out and enjoyed it immensely. Now I have the blu-ray and think it's even better.

There does seem to be a lot of clarity in many of the scenes and the colours look very vibrant, particularly in the disco. Despite all the disco clips we've all seen a million times, there's a lot more to this film than that. It's more about how Tony comes to realise that he's stuck in a rut with his juvenile friends and begins to think that there must be something more to life.

To be honest, the hi-def sound is nothing special, but that's not so important.

He hooks up with a good dancer, but she turns out to be a pretentious twit who thinks that she's better than the likes of Tony just because she works in an office in Manhattan and drinks lemon tea. I did feel sorry for Annette, the girl that Tony dumped as a dance partner, as all she wanted was for him to like her and treat her like a friend. Sadly, Tony was painfully immature and didn't redeem himself, but that reminded me of the times as well. At least at the end he recognised that he was out-danced by the Puerto Ricans and showed some class.

The "Back to Bay Ridge" extra was interesting, as many of the locations are still there.

Although the cultural significance of SNF is almost certainly lost on anyone under 45, this film was a giant of its time and has, to me at least, magnificently stood the test of time since then.
