This is a simply gorgeous set of DVDs. If you remember watching Saturday Live (and Friday Night Live) in the 80s, one of the few genuinely entertaining shows on ITV then this set will be just what you want.
The set is divided into three discs, one for Fry and Laurie, one for Harry Enfield and one for Ben Elton. This means if you'd rather watch Stavros and Loadsamoney you can go straight to that disc and not have to watch Ben Elton, for instance.
The material looks crisp and clean, a vast improvement on the old video you might have kicking around or clips you've seen on Youtube. It's a nostalgia fest for those who remember the set with a car coming through the wall or the big inflatable objects dotted around the studio.
For me the highlight is a disc of Fry and Laurie before they got their BBC2 show and it's as funny as anything you'll see in A Bit of Fry and Laurie. There's even a funny sketch with Fry being mugged by Meatloaf in a crowdpleasing performance.
At 431 minutes (over 7 hrs) you will get a lot of entertainment from this. The only thing that could have made it better for me is if we had a fourth disc with Jack Docherty and Moray Hunter (Mr Don and Mr George) - the Fry and Laurie replacements.
