Michel Legrand is the ideal pianist for these quirky little pieces of Eric Satie. One thinks of Legrand as a jazz musician (and of course the composer of Les Parapluies de Cherbourg as well as a singer often wonderfully paired with Nana Mouskouri), but on this album he seems to channel Satie perfectly. These are all miniatures, a total of 49 on this disc, and they are all charming. For a total diversion from the dreary realities of the real world, keep this disc in reserve. Very good indeed.
