Book Description

28 Aug 2012
A senior technician vanishes while working on a revolutionary new project. Dozens of young children disappear from a small Welsh village. Several of the world's most powerful leaders are wiped out in a single stroke. A young girl begins to have chilling visions from beyond the grave. What on the surface appear unrelated incidents turn out to have a common link, a sophisticated underground facility buried deep in the heart of the Welsh countryside. Brought out of retirement, Jared Hunter arrives in Sanctuary to find a community harbouring a sinister secret. As the mystery unravels, he becomes embroiled in a living nightmare, one in which the fate of mankind appears to rest in his hands.

More About the Author

Steve James (James Steven's is a pseudonym) I was born in a tiny cottage in South Wales next to a chapel with the illustrious name of Bethlehem. Don't get excited, according to my parents there was no Star in the East. No Wise Men and certainly no Vigin Birth. Coming from a strict Methodist background, it's hardly surprising that my formative years were shaped by the Bible. And then suddenly, at the tender age of sixteen, I joined the Royal Air Force. During those years, most of which were spent serving overseas, I was given a completely new perspective on life. Later, on the advice of my commanding officer, Squadron Leader King, who eventually became the tactical advisor for the Saudi Arabian Air Force, I turned my attention to education. After thirty four years of teaching religious studies, I retired and became an author. I'm often asked why I chose to go down this route. The answer is straightforward. Most people want to write for one of three reasons. The first is for fame, the second for financial gain and the third, because they want to express themselves. I come under the third category. I have no illusions of becoming rich and famous, but I do have so many ideas floating around my head that sometimes it drives me crazy. Suddenly, in the middle of the night I get an idea for a new book and come what may, I have to write it down. In that respect it's not different from teaching. And yes, my wife hates it. After every book, she looks at me and says - "Now that's the last, isn't it?" Hard as it is to believe, each of my novels contain a kernel of truth, a trend I intend to continue. To my surprise, all three, The Judas Codex, Satan's Alternative and The Fourth Horseman, have gone on to become best sellers. The fourth book, Children of the Gods will be available to download in June, while the fifth should be ready for Christmas 2014.

5.0 out of 5 stars Satan's Alternative 3 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Having read the Judas Codex by this author I eagerly looked forward to his next novel and was not disappointed. it was a great improvement from his previous novel There were a few spelling errors which looked more like computer glitches which I would of thought the publishers should of spotted before printing, but this did not spoil a great read cant wait for his next book.

What a great read, the author has a marvellous imagination and has come up with a very plausible dooms day scenario. Anyone who thinks about what can happen to the planet should read this book. Well done keep the books coming.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing 14 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got involved in the plot from the start, and it proved quite consuming.
The characters were credible and it followed on well from his first novel.
Allowing for an unoriginal doomsday scenario it proved disturbing enough to keep me reading voraciously awaiting the positive outcome ;which was slightly predictable but nonetheless well done.
Perhaps prophetic in some ways perhaps we can dismiss it as total nonsense, it still provoked a sense of "what if?"
Well worth a read.
