Easy when you get the hang of it,

This review is from: Sassoon Hot Tools Ribbon Curl Hair Styler VS114UK- White (Personal Care)
I can see why people do not like this curler,it took me four hours to get it to work. When I finally got the hang of it, I did get a nice head of curls. I found that as long as you hold the curler at the end on the plastic and be careful you shouldn't have any problems with burning yourself.
Here are some of my tips to help make curling easier: 1. Start with dry not straightened hair 2.Add some heat protection curling spray 3.Take a section of hair about 1/2 inch - 1 inch thick depending on how tight you want the curls 4.Hold the section at 90 degrees from the head 5.Hold the curler vertical and clamp on the hair with the locking switch facing the mirror 6.Put the lock on, this makes it easier 7.Turn the curler 180 degrees towards your head(you should now have the on/off switch facing the mirror) 8.Hold on to the curler with your opposite hand to the side of the head you are curling(if you are curling your left side hold it with your right hand) 9.Hold the end of the hair with the same hand as the side of the hair you are curling(if you are curling your left hold your hair with your left hand) 10.Bring the hair behing the curler and back to the original starting position of being at a right angle to your head. 11.You should now be able to slowly bring the curler along you hair(still holding on to the end of it with it being at a right angle to your head) 12.Take about 10 seconds to get to the end of your hair if it's mid length 13.When you have got to the end of the section unlock the curlers and remove from the hair. 14.While the hair is still warm twist the section into a curl and release(if you dont do this your hair will be flat and just have a kink on the end of it) 15.If the end of your hair is a bit flat just curl the end of it for a second My hair is thick, long and slightly wavey. It took me about 40 mins to do all of it. The only problem if you have long hair is you won't get a curl straight from the root, it'l be from about ear height, because by the time you get to the end of your hair the root will have cooled down and stayed straight. This is a good tool and once you work it out its easy to do. Hope my guide helps.

not recommended!!,

The look and sleek packaging of this product makes you believe it will work and curl perfectly. However, I found them very hard to use as they didnt close tight enough to hold in the hair and the instructions (3 sentences) too vaige. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone and am thankful I can return them for something that is actually worth £30!

Good results but dangerously hot,

BE CAREFUL ! Because the plates on these curlers are hot all the way round ( ie on both sides ) i found them to be quite dangerous. The result is quite good but nothing that can't be done with a normal pair of straighteners. I would not reccommend this product due to the numerous burns on my neck and hands from the very hot plates! It's not worth the pain for the results . Especially dangerous for young people although i'm 21 and still got burnt.
