I bought this book because I needed to learn how to bleed a radiator and couldn't face a real DIY book. I saw the author interviewed on the Book Show before Christmas and one of his key points was that although this was a humorous book, one could actually learn to do the things it lays out in each chapter. There is a chapter in the style of Emily Bronte teaching you how to bleed a radiator.
It was, from a practical point of view, useful to me. I also thought the pastiches were funny, clever and well thought out. I particularly liked Hunter S. Thompson building a fence, which made me laugh out loud.
The only thing I would say really is that it is a very slight volume. I read it in just over an hour. The book was rather costly given this, but nevertheless very witty and simultaneously pragmatic.
