Product Description

Product Description

Pocket-sized full-colour guide describing six long car tours, each spread over 2-3 days (Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean). But the major part of the book is devoted to 22 main walks and their many variations. There is a lovely pastoral feel to the Sardinian countryside. Flocks of sheep graze on verdant grassy slopes, moufflons and wild boar roam the rugged highlands, and eagles hover silently above. Landscapes range from rocky windswept plains to rolling hills with lush pastures and sand dunes fringing a turquoise sea - all permeated by the fragrant odour of the Mediterranean macchia. The guide contains a fold-out touring map with plans of Sassari and Cagliari and large-scale (1:50,000) topo walking maps. There are no general transport timetables, but there is information about how to get to a walk with local transport if applicable (the public transport system is generally of little use to walkers; Sardinia is best explored by car). Free on-line update service. Series (50 destinations) dubbed 'the blue Bibles' by the Sunday Times.

I just came back from Sardinia.
This guide was very useful because walks in Sardinia are not well indicated, or even not indicated at all !
The paths are fully described, so walking is easy and secure.
A great book !!!
I highly recommand it, even if, like me, you are not fluent in English, all terms are easily understandable.

The only one hiking guide about Sardinia.
Topographical maps are quite good and usefull, descriptions are very detailed and photographs are attractive.
This guide is updated (2010) and therefore a good choice to discover Sardinia.

As with all Sunflower books, these are great walking books, and you can keep them forever, just using the sunflower book website to check for any updates to the routes before you go on each trip. They manage the routes well and rely on people trying out the routes and advising if any changes need to be made. A great book and great after sales service from the writers. We did some fantastic walks and you get so much good local information on the region too.
Would recommend all sunflower books. In terms of price its the same on amazon or on the sunflower website, so whichever works best for you on ease of ordering.
Have also got the Crete, Majorca and Menorca books...
