5.0 out of 5 stars Simple to install and a good boost over integrated graphics, 26 Mar 2008
By D. Martin "DpMDpMDpM" (Sheffield, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this for my uncle who has a Compaq PC (bought from PC World) with integrated graphics. It's not the fastest PC in the world and there was a program I'd written for him in OpenGL that he wanted to use. It wa working OK on his machine, but a little slow, and I suspected it was to do with graphics as opposed to central processing.

I bought this and found out I was correct. Disabling the integrated graphics and using this low-end card has made a major difference to the way this specific OpenGL application works. Everything is faster and a lot smoother, animations, translations and rotations are swift and look about 10 times better than before.

Installation was pretty simple... the PC had a single PCI Express slot so it was obvious where the card went, rebooted, installed the drivers that came with the CD (no doubt there are later versions available for download) and off it went... easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. One very pleased uncle and a souped-up (beefed-up?) PC for less than £40 and less than 1 hour of work. Not bad at all.
