In all honesty, I was entirely prepared for this to fail to deliver, having already tried an MSI Geforce GTX770 (which failed miserably, struggling with goat simulator in 4k) in a quest to play 4K and, considering the geforce card would cost more and reportedly gives better performance at 1080P, I was honestly apprehensive, with only the price from amazon's warehouse discounts tempting me to go for this.

I'm glad I did.

The item got to me in perfect condition and I was pleasantly surprised with the build quality of the card - with chrome heat pipes all over and hard plastics surrounding it, coupled with a really hefty weight, it looks and feels quality. Further to that, there was a pleasant surprise in that the card came bundled with a HDMI cable, a crossfire connector and a molex adapter for users with cheaper power supplies, as well as a refreshingly sparse driver disc, so top marks on packaging and build quality.

A word of warning though, to anyone considering this for a cheap rig: this needs two 8-pin PCIE power connectors, so make sure you have at least one 6+2 pin PCIE connector before getting this.

As for the performance, this card is utterly phenomenal; driving daily tasks like firefox, youtube and high definition videos doesn't make the fans spin above their normal rate at all, and on the games I tested this on, the card only really had to work to keep cool when I took games into 4K and ramped up the settings to punishing levels.
As regards framerates, my TV only has a HDMI1.

Had to replace my dead 7970 (XFX reference) and after checking the others 280X's out there, I decided upon the Vapor-X due to price, cooling and build.

The first thing that strikes you about the card is the build quality. It's solid, and apart from the fans (which could really have used a little more grill protection) the card feels like it isn't fragile and prone to damage when shoving it into it's slot. It has a backplate heatsink that covers the whole reverse of the card - not only to spread the heat evenly thus keeping the hotspots cooler, but also to offer protection to the components, which I personally think is excellent.

The card is not small. Even with just 2 fans, it is as long as a reference 7970, so make sure you have plenty of room. Due to the backplate it also takes up 2.5 slots, so prepare to lose a pci-e slot.

Performance is as good as any 280X, temps never really climb past 65oC under heavy load, stock fan speeds are fine and not loud at all... my particular card is allowing an overclock of 1180Mhz, 1600Mhz for memory, at 1200mv, and that's pretty good!

Overall, there is nothing to really dislike about the card, providing you have plenty of space.

The card lives up to my expectations and I've had no problems with it whatsoever. It also stays quite cool when put under pressure, rarely exceeding 60oC
