I upgraded to the Sapphire R9 270X from my old HD6850 that I got back in 2010.

The graphics card looks like a beast with its 2 fans but it doesn't take up too much space either so defiantly plus points for that. I was worried about the noise 2 fans would make as my old graphics card had 1 and sounded like it was going to take off. Pleased to say the Sapphire Dual fans are quiet, not whisper quiet as you can hear the slight hum from the case at idle but not anything distracting. Under load the fans are still very quiet so I put it down to excellent parts and design.

Performance wise (I have an FX-8320 CPU) this card handles 1080p gaming beautifully. It plays Call of Duty Ghosts on Ultimate, Battlefield 4 on Ultimate and Crysis 3 on ultimate and doesn't dip below 40 FPS in high cluttered and busy areas. Averages around 60-65 FPS.

This card matches the older HD7870.

This card does need 2 6 pin pci-e connections, in the box it did come with 4 pin molex to PCI-E adapters though.

So I had been considering getting a graphics card for a while to play at 1080p. I had previously just been using the integrated graphics on my A10-6800K which had served me fine (see my review for full details) but had been inadequate in some games and the trend will only continue upwards.

I had been reading lots of reviews and they all seemed to agree that the R9 270X was the best value card for high to ultra 1080p gaming (unless you are dead set on nvidia) so I bought this sapphire version based on it being the cheapest card with favourable reviews.

I can report that I am extremely pleased - handles most games at ultra settings at 1080p with average frame rates around 50-60fps with minimums never straying below 30 which is perfect.

In terms of the sapphire card specifically, it is incredibly quiet at idle and audible but fairly quiet under full load - during a loud, action sequence in a game, you won't hear it at all over the game itself. Bear in mind that my rig is all in a fractal design core 1000 which is pretty small - in a larger case, you'd do even better. Temperatures stay in the 65-70C range under load, which is exactly what you'd expect and absolutely fine.

All in all, highly recommended.

an absolutly exelent card at a affordable price you are getting a £200+ perfomance from a £120 card
overclock it and its a beast.
my prevous card was - ATI HD 5750 i thought the new card would be at least twice a powerfull but i was plesantly suprised that it was three to four time more powerfull than my old one.
its reativly easy to install just make sure you have the room in your case mine is a Antec full tower and it just fitted in.
the other exteamly important factor - you must have a 500watt PSU at least, mine is 700Watt so no probs for me.
its not the most powerfull card out there but is pretty dam close unless you want to be spending £500 plus.
i have an ancent motherboard socket 775 and old quad core intel CPU at 2.33Ghz and 6Gbs of DDR2 ram
and dispite the poor support i am getting the following in my games-
Crysis 3 on medium settings 40fps
Battlefeild 4 multyplayer 30 - 40fps
Far cry 3 - everything maxed out - 30 - 40fps
if i had a haswel i4 4 GHZ CPU and DDR3 Ram i am sure i would be getting much more as the card just deals with grahficks not animation AI destuction and explosions/ phizicks so although it dose most of the heavey lifting the CPU can catch up fast enough
for the price i cannot recomend this card enough, for me it has already breathed new life into my prevous games and letting me play some new ones like COD ghosts on full settings at 40fps.
looking forward to upgrading further to see where this can go.

I recently bought this and I will never look back
Upgraded from an xfx 7770 (Which was another great card)
This card can run max settings an everything I own (Skyrim,WoW,oblivion,Dead Island and many more)
Highly recommend this card to anyone contemplating getting it, you will not be disappointed.
Comes with 2 molex to 6 pin pcie cables in the box in case you dont have enough from your psu.
Needs 500watt minimum to run and 600watts for crossfire.
Overall best value for money and a fantastic card

This card is a fantastic purchase. Performance for this card is very impressive in this price bracket, I would highly recommend. Very quiet, and great cooling too.

For the price, you cant really fault this card. It has so many brilliant features.

Lets begin with the install. Everything you would need to install this card is included in the box. The card requires 2 x 6 Pin Connectors to be run from the power supply in order to power the card. Sapphire are very generous with this and supply 2 molex to 6 pin adapters just in case the power supply doesn't have 2 x 6 Pin connections.

The card is easily installed: just earth yourself with an anti-static wristband, open case, plug both 6 pin connectors into the end of the graphics card from the power supply, slot it into the PCI Express x16 slot on the board, close up again and then your good to go.

The card supports DVI-I (Interlaced, this one can easily be converted to VGA with supplied adapter), DVI-D (Digital, this requires a special adapter to convert to vga, sold separately), HDMI and Display port.

This moves us on to the driver CD. After installing the graphics card you will be required to install a driver for it to run correctly. This comes on a CD, however the drivers installed via the CD are massively outdated and I would recommend downloading the latest card drivers from AMD's Website for best gaming performance. This is noteworthy as it made a 10 Frames Per Second difference in Battlefield 4.

In terms of performance, this card did not disappoint. In Battlefield 3 on Ultra Settings, I get around 90 Frames Per Second. In Battlefield 4 on Ultra I get anywhere between 40 and 70 frames per second. It ran Minecraft on fancy at around 90 FPS. This card is clearly built for the next generation of gaming, and I feel as though I will still be running games in High and Ultra in 2 Years time, if not for longer.
