Product Description

Product Description

The new SAPPHIRE HD 7700 series is a new family of graphics cards targeting the enthusiast on a budget and mainstream users looking for increased graphics performance. It is based on the second family of GPU’s from AMD built in its new 28nm process and featuring the highly acclaimed GCN optimised graphics processing architecture.

Doubling the effective bandwidth of previous DisplayPort implementations, DisplayPort 1.2 now includes support for Multi-Stream, allowing you to drive up to four separate monitors from a single DisplayPort 1.2 connector (requires DP1.2 monitors or Multi-Stream compatible hub), Stereoscopic 3D monitor support and adds support for high quality, lossless, 7.1 channel audio formats.

Accelerate the most demanding applications with AMD Stream technology and do more with your PC. AMD Stream Technology allows you to use the teraflops of compute power locked up in your graphics processer on tasks other than traditional graphics such as video encoding, at which the graphics processor is many, many times faster than using the CPU alone.

The new and 28nm GCN Architecture with more efficient process technology puts more transistors in less space, enabling a dramatic increase in Processing Power. Crank the settings, devastate your enemies and bear witness to absurdly high frame rates with AMD Radeon HD7000 series graphics card-DirectX 11 has never looked this good. Maximum setting and crazy performance shouldn’t be a compromise. The AMD Radeon HD7900 Series with the new 28 nm GCN Architecture assures that it’s not.

The next generation of AMD Eyefinity technology is here, featuring all-new support for stereo 3D, universal bezel compensation and brand new display configurations. Face it: the best just got better: The enhancements for AMD Radeon HD7000 series include: Stereo 3D-multi-display stereoscopic 3D support via DisplayPort 16K X 16K maximum display group resolution-output up to 268 megapixels per GPU.

Famous for our exclusive cooling solutions like the award winning Vapor Chamber Cooling technology - Vapor-X, SAPPHIRE's reputation for innovative excellence continues to grow with the introduction of our new dual-extractor technology - Dual-X. Dual-X is a highly efficient multi-heatpipe cooler with dual fans that provide quiet and very cool operation during normal operating conditions, and superb cooling performance even under extreme load.

I bought this card after numerous web searches showed it was indeed a heavy gamers card for the budget it is in,

I bought this card with the intentions of buying a second one and running them through crossfire,
I set this card up in minutes and was astonished at how good it really is, I am only running it through VGA to DVI converter and the scaling is great, the games I play on it, such as Hitman: Absolution, Dragon Age 1 & 2 as well as all 3 Mass Effects with visual mods all run at 60fps and above without barely any slowdown, I do get some but I have background programs running, I have hit 120fps on some games and fairly impressed with that, all this is possible even without overclocking the card by even one single step.

I would recommend this card to the budget gamer who wants to play the latest and greatest games at a visual level they can admire without breaking the bank.

Yes, is the answer to the title. I do. I hate it when people (for some reason) think that in order for a gaming PC to get good results you need a Core i7, 16GB RAM, a top of the range mobo and 3 Graphics card (costing £400 each) in SLI. Sure you can do that, and I certainly wouldn't object if you wanted to, but not all of us have that sort of money, or at least I don't. Take my PC for instance. I spend £60 on the CPU, £35 on the Mobo, £30 on the RAM and bought this card for £80 yet I can still play the vast majority of games in high-max settings if I wanted to. How? Well, I really don't know, you have to look I suppose, but this card is a good example. I originally bought this to replace my aging XFX Nvidia GeForce 9600GT XXX Alpha Dog Card (Snappy name, right?) It was a good card in it's day but was just past its 5th Birthday and I really needed a new one. I had a few ideas in mind and originally wanted a 6670, but saved up some more bucks and got this, the Radeon HD 7770. It is fantastic. I was actually a little mindblown. I knew it would perform well but I didn't know in reality how it would actually perform. Its good in short. I can crank up my games in 1080p in Max settings and go for it. No this is certainly no top of the range card, I'm sure it would break on a 3D monitor (though does support it) but is not bad, not bad at all.

In the box it comes with the card (duh), a driver CD, some cards congratulating you on buying an AMD product, a DVI to VGA adapter and a Molex 4-pin to 6-pin adapter. AMD say you need at least a 450W PSU in order to use this card and I would agree. It has its own power slot on the back for a six pin connector, I don't have a very modern PSU so I needed that adapter in the box, so don't worry if you don't know what a 6pin cable looks like!

I bought this card to breath life into my 5 year old PC which was starting to fail some "Can I Run It?" tests. Now I can play anything at fairly high settings, it's given my setup a new lease of life. At such a low price this represents incredible value. Plus it's silent and is smaller than my old GTS 250, freeing up space in my crowded PC. I absolutely can't fault it, even more so at this fantastic price!

Well lets just say my PC is showing its age with its lack of possible improvement but this card, this card has allowed me to boost its performance by at least 200%.

Before this i had a very low end NVidia card, which mad it possible to run some games better than on-board graphics but not much.
popped this one in, the most demanding game i have is Shogun 2, it an on the old card on DX9 and all very low settings, now all on DX11 and ultra.
Im just amazed how good this card is!

The box came with the card, driver CD and documentation as i expected, what i didn't expect was the dvi-vga adapter and power adapter for those who don't have a 6 pin power cable from their PSU, so very handy and saves buying extra adapters or cables separately.

I did have a little difficulty after install due to the remnants of the NVidia drivers but after a thorough clear out and hunt for all things in NVidia and a quick AMD driver re-install everything worked out fine :D

So having owned this card for a long time now I decided to make an update while I'm doing the same for other goods i purchased.

So as you know it might now compare to the very best graphics cards but at this price its the peak performance for gamers, I'm playing battlefield 4 with it as we speak at medium settings 70FPS.

Feel free to ask me any questions about the card and/or its perfomance.

IMPORTANT: (Only if you own Catalyst Control Center) To get the full 1Ghz Overclock you MUST run on the High Performance setting/mode in the catalyst control center!

Pros:
Fast and very efficient compared to other graphics cards.
Matches my blue motherboard PCB.
Runs quiet.

Cons:
None for this price tag.
