I bought this card after considering that it would be more future-proof than an OC 7850, which is only ~£8 cheaper, and doing countless days of research on a multitude of cards. It arrived promptly in one day, very well packaged, as my experience with Sapphire products led me to expect, and with a great many accessories. I cleared my PCIE slot of my old Sapphire 6870, and pulled the 7870 from its thickly padded anti-static bag. A simple 5 minute installation, and the drivers were updated within another 3 minutes of booting up the computer. I tested the fans, left them at the default 25% speed, and it stayed at an idle temperature of 27-31 Celsius, very quietly, much better than my old 6870, and with double the amount of fans. I ran the Unigine Heaven Benchmark at maximum settings, 1080p, and got an excellent average of 33.4fps, reaching only 51 Celsius and staying at around 35% fan speed, very quiet. I then ran Battlefield 3 at 1080p, ultra settings, for around 20 minutes, and it maintained a healthy average of 64fps and only reached 55 Celsius at 35% fan speed. The highest temperature It's been at in the three days I've had it was 63 Celsius when I had been playing Civilization V for a few hours with the fans at a very quiet 60% speed and a warm summer room. I haven't overclocked the card yet, but I shouldn't need to for at least a year, and I'm very happy with the card so far. I sometimes have the fans set at 100% speed manually, even when not gaming, just because they're so quiet and I might as well. Highly recommend this greatly priced, high-end product.
