Brilliant performance from this card at a good price
It was bought as an upgrade for my Nvidia geforce 7600GT 256mb,. itself a solid performer but not with to days HD content. I had been experiencing pixelation on black areas(little Black and Grey squares)and after reading up on the subject decided that the 7600GT was not processing the visual information fast enough.
So to the upgrade I spent some time investigating which one to buy and decided on the HD5670 1GB ultimate, it arrived within 2 days and I set about installing it.
Even though it is passively cooled you may need another fan so you have a through flow of air over the card as the chip runs hot.
I put in the fan removed my 7600 and started replacement.The card at the top is quite chunky so I had to remove a support brace to get it in the slot. Please remember to make sure you have discharged any static from you before you start, touch the PC chassis. Fitting was easy, I replaced the brace and side panel and connected up. Running Windows should spot the new hardware and then put in the supplied disc for the drivers.
WOW! what a difference, pin sharp images, solid black areas and smooth detailed games. Just for fun I installed a demo of Crysis a difficult game for most cards (7600GT would not run it without problems) The 5670 ran it at a resolution of 1680 x 1050 with no real problems at all.

This card is silent as it has no fan, so it relies on convection from a radiator to keep cool - make sure your case has a bit of space. I haven't tried to put another card next to it, but I expect the heatsink would get in the way of the next slot.
I comes with an adaptor for a VGA monitor that plugs into the HDMI slot at the back, which sticks out another inch.
It fits in a PCI express x 16 slot.
Graphics are good - I can't fault it.

I cannot review the actual performance of this card as it would not fit into the space available in my PC.
The illustration on Amazon appears to show the large Heat Sink to be hanging on just one side of the card but in fact the vanes on the top of the Heat Sink overhang BOTH sides of the card by approximately half an inch each side.
You therefore need at least half an inch of space on each side of your PCI-Express slot to be able to fit this card.

Silent graphics card
This is a reasonable mid range graphics card. Totally silent as it does not have a fan. Ideal for say having the PC in your lounge where you don't want too much noise. Read more
