This is a well written and well researched guide. It seems to second guess exactly the type of information you want to get to plan out a trip to these islands. As they are little known it charts out and advises in a very realistic and accessible way all the basics you need .You are soon enticed to putting a journey there high up on your wish list. It is honest about some of the hard ships that you may or may not encounter .For me most importantly it is very good on nature and the many good things to be seen on the islands. Its good on treks, food and lodging options and in all a really good introduction to what can be seen and experienced there. Most of all the enthusiasm and enjoyment of the author shines through as she shares her unique travel experiences and love of the territory

My partner and I spent nearly 3 weeks this August in Sao Tome and Principe and were lucky enough to procure a copy of Bradt’s new guide just in time for the trip. We loved the islands and found the guide, as always I might add with Bradt Guides we have used over the years on our travels, an absolute gold mine of information. The information was accurate and up-to-date and I would consider this guide as an absolute essential for anyone travelling to this unique place - not just because of the practical information but all the background information about nature and cuture, etc.

It's a good guide overall, but I would have liked better if it had more ideas of what you could do alone: trekking, sightseing, etc. It often directs you into hiring a guide.

Very useful. Although I was born in São Tome, I have learned a lot from this book.

The best São Tomé guide EVER 19 April 2015

Absolutely the best guide ever written. Complete and exhaustive, rich in both practical informations and curious facts: you can literally find anything you need here. And writing's style is ironic and fresh, very pleasant to read.
