The Xacti CG20 features standalone shutter buttons that let you start shooting a photo or a video with a single thumb press. There's no need to press a separate mode switch, and you can even shoot photos and videos simultaneously. Note 1: Photos are recorded at a resolution of 2.0 M in Full HD and Full SHQ mode, 0.9 M in HD-HR and HD-SHQ mode, and 0.3 M in TV-SHQ mode.
The Xacti CG20 further refines SANYO's ergonomic Xacti blueprint, with a design that prevents muscle fatigue and maintains a horizontal lens orientation even when the camera is mounted on a tripod. Furthermore, the monitor can be rotated approximately 285 degrees, enabling you to shoot effortlessly at virtually any angle.
Despite its compact body, the Xacti CG20 lets you shoot Full HD video clips with clear and smooth motion. What's more, it features a 38 mm wide-angle lens that lets you capture beautiful images over a wider area. The wide-angle lens is complemented by 5x optical zoom. Now you can shoot wider angles and capture more distant subjects-all in Full HD quality.
Although it boasts a very compact form factor, the Xacti CG20 can record Full HD videos at 1920 x 1080 resolution, along with genuine high-resolution photos. SANYO developed a new proprietary high-speed image-processing engine to deliver high image quality in a compact package. The engine is designed to reduce power consumption and provide optimal operation in conjunction with the CMOS image sensor. What's more, the CG20 employs a newly developed 5x optical zoom function for video shooting. This further expands the shooting area for all situations from wide to telephoto.
Brightness on the Xacti CG20's wide-screen LCD monitor can be adjusted to any of seven levels. Also, the monitor can rotate through approximately 285 degrees, so you can easily position it at your preferred angle. This lets you keep your subject clearly in view, whether you’re shooting high, low, or at yourself and your kids.
For beautiful high-definition video recording, the Xacti CG20 reduces the effect of camera shake that typically occurs when you zoom in on a subject. SANYO's original digital image stabiliser is capable of automatically distinguishing between unintended camera shaking and deliberate pans and tilts.
Meanwhile, 3D digital noise reduction technology reduces random noise by adding motion judgment to the noise-reduction process. The CG20 also delivers improvements in compression efficiency and bit-rate allocation, resulting in a highly accurate video image. As it employs the advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression format, the CG20 lets you easily save and play back video images on a PC.
At the highest sensitivity of ISO 1600, the Xacti CG20 can capture the natural colors of faces and indoor scenes at night, as well as evening scenes where you don’t want to use a flash.
The ability to shoot from as close as 1 cm makes the Xacti CG20 a convenient way to photograph accessories and items for online auctions. Now you can take clear, highly detailed close-up shots.
The Xacti CG20 is able to detect your subjects' faces instantly. Even if the faces move, the CG20 can follow them and adjust the focus and exposure. The Face Chaser function has been developed so that it can even follow faces from a side-on angle. Note: Face detection functionality depends on the subject and shooting conditions.
The Xacti CG20 offers the convenience of editing Full HD videos on the camera itself. You can easily splice multiple clips into a single video, or cut unwanted footage. This feature is particularly useful when it comes to viewing slideshows and using your SD memory card capacity more effectively. Note: If there is insufficient free space on the SD memory card, you may be unable to perform editing functions.
