It works. Very simple. Good quality picture and sound. Plays all kind of DVD's, including DVD+RW. Only complaint is that the scart lead is too short (about 50cm?).

I bought this DVD player for my sister as she claimed she didn't want anything to fancy. It might not be at a fancy price but it plays virtually any DVD and the quality is a lot better than a much more expensive Philips player I have.

Verified Purchase
Purchased for my father who required a simple and straightforward machine that would be easy to operate and also offer good quality playback. We all like a bargain and I have to say that this is it. This machine comes complete with the all important scart lead and so you can be up and running in a couple of minutes out of the box. Ok, so the scart may not be the best available, but hey, the results still look good and considering the whole deal comes in at under £35 GBP it cannot be faulted...particularly when you also factor in the MULTI-REGION capability. Yes...it really is multi-region and is a doddle to set up that takes only seconds (contact Amazon for further details). All in all, at this price any less than five stars would be unfair.

I've had two of these. The first arrived with a jammed-shut disc drawer and had to be replaced (done very quickly by Amazon). The second player's on button has failed after just over two month's light use, and it can only be turned off or on using the remote. Picture quality is fine, and home DVDs play OK, but mechanically this machine is rubbish.

Many months later, however, I still use this machine for troublesome discs. I have had to resolder the SCART connector three times as the circuit board mounting is too flexible, and the solder joints crack if the SCART cable is wobbled too much when reconnecting. It confirms my view that the build quality is poor.

The player copes with multiregion discs after following the appropriate instructions (see other reviews).

This dvd player is multi region 'capable' meaning you need to make it, you can do this by following the instructions provided above by amazon....once you've done this, it's fab, definately worth the money, it does everything you need it to do.

Have had this about one month now and left it a while before submitting a review to see how I got on with it. Have made it multi-region from info. available from Amazon. It does not, as a previous reviewer has pointed out, play all formats of self recorded DVD's, but maybe this is down to the quality or type of media used and presumably any self recorded media can be played back on the device used to record -I'm happy as it does however play all our holiday/birthday etc camcorder to DVD films which are dvd-r,(it's some dvd-rw's it has a problem with). Overall up to now this is an excellant player, simple to use and good value for money. Can't go wrong for less than £30 + you get a free scart lead, albeit short.

If you are like me, and just want a player to plug into a 15 year old TV and do a cheap and cheery job, then this is the item for you. Easy to set up, multi-region capable, and with a slim, modern design, this player, for its price, really cannot be beat. A word of warning to those who own PAL televisions - you will need to set the DVD player up to recognise your TV if you wish to play non-region 2 DVDs. This is not made clear either here, or in the instructions, but is easy to do. Simply go into the display screen, select Video, and then TV setup and then change from the 'Multi' setting to 'PAL'. Other than that little hitch, which almost caused the machine to be sent back, this is an excellent deal.

I've had my DVD player for just over 3 months now and am, generally, pleased with it. However it is not without its problems.

Initially, the player i had delivered didn't work. The disk tray just wouldn't open. All credit to Amazon, however, who were very quick to replace it with an operational unit. However, even on the replacement the hatch for the disk tray doesn't close properly.

The player is simple to set up straight from the box and is very easy to make multi-region capable. So far it has played everything i've tried on it (mainly Region 1 & 2 DVDs). The quality is fine and i'm happy with it.

As another reviewer said, you cannot turn it off using the remote and additionally, the power button on the machine is very unresponsive at times. The buttons on the remote are also ridiculously small and i find myself constantly looking at it to try and find the play button.

This is a good player, particularly for the price, but I have to agree that it could have been made a lot more durable (the disk tray is the most flimsy thing i've ever seen). Overall, i'm happy with it, but it could have been a lot better.
