Eneloop are my top choice when it comes to batteries. They offer great performance, reliability and charge retention through the years.

There are various generations of eneloop batteries with Sanyo producing the first 3 generations. In 2013 Sanyo was acquired by Panasonic and the 4th generation was introduced. Other variants were also introduced by Panasonic.

These HR-3UTGB Eneloop batteries are the 3rd and last (standard eneloop) generation produced by Sanyo. They are top quality NiMH AA cells offering:

- 1900 to 2000mAh (Minimum - Typical)
- Astounding 1800 charge cycles
- Awesome charge retention through the years: 90% after 1 year / 80% after 3 years / 70% after 5 years
- Batteries are pre charged by the factory, (albeit to approx 75%) so they can be used straight away
- Virtually leak proof, even if left in a device

Tip: In order to achieve maximum longevity, use a quality smart charger designed for NiMH batteries. In contrast to dumb chargers, these will monitor the voltage of each individual battery thus avoiding under / overcharging. Some smart chargers even sport thermal overload detection.

These batteries will last for years, and given the price they should definitely be on your short list!

I bought these after all the rave reviews I had read, but have been pretty disappointed in their performance.

I must say first off, that I actually have no idea if I got new ones, or used ones. The ones I *eventually* received after about two weeks, were just loose inside plastic boxes. They were also completely discharged. Considering these are supposed to be pre-charged, and should retain up to 70% of their charge after five years, the only way I can seem them being completely discharged, is by being used. The seller refuses to respond to my emails, so I can't confirm one way or another.

As for their performance, I have them in an Xbox One controller and have to use a freshly charged set about every three or four days. Before these arrived, I was using standard AA batteries, and one pair lasted the two weeks I was waiting. I'm not charging them with a cheap charger either, I bought the Maha MH-C800S charger, and it was far from cheap. Maybe I expected too much from them based on the reviews, or maybe I was sent used ones that have been hammered, and no longer perform as they should.

I use Eneloops in all my strobe flash units. You can charge them up, store them for a month or three and still have 90+% of charge when you need them. Strong recommendation.

I used to use rechargeables for everything, but got so fed up of having to keep them charged due to their self-discharge that I ended up just buying alkalines in bulk and using them.

Not any more. These Eneloops are everything the reviews say they are. I've had a set in my daughter's toy dog for almost six months and they are still going strong. Conventional rechargeables would have self-discharged a long time ago. And they come pre-charged with sunlight from Japan!

I choose eneloop batteries after reading amazon reviews, so far they have prooved indispensable in my speedlites. The recycle times are as fast as non-rechargeable batteries and last just as long. But best of all I charge them up after use and forget them. No need for a topup charge before i use them again. Brilliant!

I've used a lot of different recahrgeable batteries over the years but these seem (so far) to be one of the best. Their power is not the highest available on the market but 1900 is sufficient for my SB700 speedlight which does need decent batteries. Also being low drain, these batteries hold their charge so that when I pick up my camera flash I can rely on the batteries not being flat or having discharged. This applies to the spares that i need to keep in my bag.

Would definetly recommend and with the Intelligent Battery Charger (to keep the batteries at their optimum level) this is the perfect match.

Enjoy!

These are simply the best low self-discharge (LSD!) batteries you can get. Sanyo were one of the first (if not THE first) manufacturer of this type of battery and it shows - they really do last for ages in your device if you haven't used it, and despite the fact that they are of a lower MAh rating than most of the competitors, when I talk to other friends and relatives about their other-brand LSD batteries, they just say "they're ok but not much better than regular Ni-MH batteries".

These days, I don't consider any other brand of LSD batteries no matter how cheap they are. In all the many dozens of Sanyo LSDs I've purchased over the last few years (to keep all those kids toys going!), I have yet to dispose of one through malfunction or lack of charge capacity, etc.

I would, however, advise that you charge them with an appropriate charger - sounds silly, but the fast chargers out there can force 2300MAh into some batteries and these Sanyos are of lower capacity so you would probably reduce the working life of them or ruin them completely.

I use a Maha C-9000 charger which is quite advanced but I think this is one of the reasons why my Sanyos perform so well.
