Thought has gone into the production of this book as, although hard backed, the inner pages are ring bound enabling the book to lie flat when following the instructions.

I specifically bought this book because I am in the process of re-covering what they call a Parsons' Chair but I really needed a few more pictures and more detailed instructions even though I've done quite a bit of dressmaking and a little upholstery before. Having said that, after a quick thumb through the rest of the book, I see there a quite few more items I will be attempting.

Some of the book contents are :

Part 1 - 'Kids and Pets' which includes a Baby Changing Pad, Child's Playhouse, Birdcage Cover and Seed Catcher and a Cozy Dog Bed.

Part 2 - 'Seating' which includes A Faux Leather Hassock, Bar Stool Cushions and Kitchen Chair Seat Covers

Part 3 - 'Sleeping Comfort' which includes Duvet Cover, Fabric Coverd Headboard and Walls.

Part 4 - 'Window Coverings' which includes Measuring for Window Treatments, Collared Tab Top Curtains and Mock Fan Blind.

Part 5 - 'Dining & Entertaining' which includes a Round Tablecloth, Parth Chair Back Covers and Decorative Fireplace Screen.

Part 6 - 'Pillows' which includes Television Remote Control Pillow, Flange Pillow and Neck Roll

Part 7 - 'Outdoors' which includes an Awning, Barbecue Grill Cover and a Wicker Sofa Makeover.

I have listed only a few of the over fifty items in this very useful book.

Down to earth useful book 9 Dec. 2002

I received this book as a gift and am buying it for a friend. I found the instructions down to earth and based around how to create patterns for furniture, windows, pillows etc in a non-intimidating way.
Some creative ideas that I haven't seen before (like a house for kids designed to fit over a card table.

Uninspired 16 April 2004
By Stephanie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Sandra Betzina is wonderfully talented when it comes to garment contstruction. I have several of her books and love them. However, her expertise and creativity do not seem to extend to home sewing. The projects in this book are not inspiring. The fabric choices are questionable. It is difficult to glean the 'tricks of the trade' as this book is organized entirely by project, not technique. Save your money. If you are truly interested, check it out from the library before you invest in this publication.

Handy reference 31 July 2007
By labnsabys - Published on Amazon.com

As with any "project" book, the projects featured in this book are pretty specific to certain styles or needs. However, unlike a lot of project books, it is easy to take the basic concepts and techniques and apply them to your own unique requirements. I am combining techniques from several different projects in the book to make a large window seat and coordinating valance for my kids' room. The instructions and photos have been very helpful to me, a novice sewer.
