Great little player and well worth the few quid it costs. It's nicer bouncing this around rather than a 300 quid phone. The sound and the menus are great. The screen is big enough and easy to read (even with my 47 year old eyes). It's mega tiny and weighs nothing more than a folded up sheet of A4.

The built in software does the trick and there are enough sound options for me.
I've not tried the headphones as I'm useing my own Phillips earhook ones that are working like a charm and are also acting as a good airiel for the built n radio. Nice touch on the radio is it tells you the station name and the freq. You can also save the stations into your presets.

I've not tried Rockbox and I doubt I will as the firmwere is doing all I need, and it's doing it very well.

Some people may moad about the length of the USB lead, or lack of it as it's only about 7 inches long. But that suits me and it sits nice in the side of my laptop. I can see problems though for people with desktop PCs that only have rear USB ports. A simple fix would be an extention lead from Poundland.

I've also noticed people on various websites complaining about adding playlists to this without useing the Sandisk software. Well the solutions on some pages are long winded and not needed. Below is my easy way to do it.

moving music and creating playists the eay way................

1, plug you player in and windows will see it as a memory stick.
2 , now navigate to the music folder and drag and drop your music into that folder, or while in there create sub folders like "Madness" "Queen" etc and drop the tracks you want into those folders.
That's your music copied onto the player.

Now creating a playlist.

I bought this product mainly to listen to podcasts and audiobooks in my car through the radio when driving. My car has an AUX socket to take a 3.5mm stereo jack for playing through the radio but when I tried it with an old mono jack cable I had in a cupboard, the volume was unacceptably low (radio and player volume to max - still couldn't hear it above road/wind noise). I thought perhaps I was only getting one channel and/or there was an impedance mismatch and decided to buy an August CR100 in-car FM transmitter which incidentally comes with an 3.5mm stereo jack audio cable. With the player plugged into this in the car I was surprised to discover that the volume was no different. Then the penny dropped: two weeks earlier when I had read the Amazon reviews on the Sansa Clip Zip there was mention of an artificially low max volume setting being standard for the European region. Returning to read these, I of course found that after a factory reset to Rest of World, the volume could be increased to a suitable level for in-car use with the audio cable directly. Had I realised sooner, I could have saved myself a few pounds for the August FM transmitter, though I would still have needed to buy a stereo audio cable. The transmitter has gone to the back of my cupboard against the day I hire or change my car for one that turns out to be without an AUX input to the radio.

For my purposes, the device works acceptably well. Unfortunately, due to the short audio lead and small size of the player, it can be a little fiddly to step through the menus and read the display to select a file to play from a driving position when the Sansa is plugged in.

I was surprised how small this is. I know the size is stated in the listing but i'm an inches man. If you set it to USA or rest of the world mode it gives a good volume. It holds 4GB of music which is plenty for me and this can be increased by adding a microSD card. I found it easy to add music from my computer and it plays FLAC as well as mp3 and most other file types. I have never used the record function and probably never will. An FM radio is included and it is a good buy at the price. The only complaint is it comes with some music preinstalled. I found this difficult to remove.

Had a similar one previously, this one is even better. Great value MP3 with all you need at a third the price of Apple.

Bought this as a gift for my boyfriend (a hi-fi geek) along with a 32gb micro SC card. He's delighted with it. He uses it to enjoy his vast collection of FLACs in the car. Happy boyfriend = happy me. Would recommend this product over any iPod if you're like us and prefer function over style. Also goes without saying that it's a HECK of a lot cheaper. The earphones included with it aren't up to much, but since it was bought for car use that's not a problem for us.

This is my second Sansa player and as before it's easy to use and sound quality is excellent once you ditch the earphones that come with it.No niggly software just drag and drop and you're ready to use.Why people bother with Apple is beyond me.
