I used one of these very happily for about three months to get digital photos from an SDHC card - it was fast, easy to use, and fitted neatly in a pocket of my camera bag. Then, two days ago, it stopped working - looking inside the slot for the SDHC card, two of the metal contacts that read information from the inserted cards have become bent, meaning full contact isn't established, and the card reader no longer works. With a little effort this would be easy enough to fix, but as card readers are so cheap I can't really be bothered, and have ordered another that, from reviews, seems as if it might be sturdier.

While I can get this reader to work intermittently on my laptop, it will not work on either of my XP desktops. Both desktops recognise the MOBILEMATE SD CARD READER when plugged either into a hub or directly into the USB card, but when the SD card is inserted into the MOBILEMATE SD CARD READER the system crashes and an I/O failure message appears.
The correct method of plugging the SD [etc] card into the reader is not obvious and the instructions that come with the device need a magnifying glass to read.

Started using this product this morning. Really fast transfers, nice size, feels quality. And it's a nick black matte colour. Goes well with my macbook :)

MobileMate - I don't think so.
Doesn't work on my Mac. Every time you insert a card (even when reformatted) it doesn't recognise it and wants to reformat it. Read more
