Despite what it says regarding minimum system requirements, (XP SP2 + WMP10), you can easily get this player working with Windows Me or 98SE, with earlier versions of WMP, simply by changing the USB mode, (Settings > USB mode), to "MSC". The player then appears in My Computer as a Removable Disk (e.g. E:\) and you just drag-and-drop your music files to the "Music" folder (E:\Music). Easy!
The internal battery takes about 4 hours to fully charge through the USB2 port on my PC. However, it'll also charge using a mains-to-USB charger, which you'd need if you plan to having the player away from your computer for some time e.g. on holiday. Haven't timed how long a full charge lasts but it appears pretty good. Sound quality seems very good to me through Sony or Sennheiser earphones (haven't tried the ones supplied with the player).
The display screen is clear and bright and the "time out" can be adjusted in the Settings menu. The clip holds the player tightly and can be removed if you want. The red colour looks great. My only (minor) gripe is that the supplied USB cable is very short, but it's a standard USB-A to mini USB-B cable (often used with digital cameras, PDAs, etc.) so it's easy to pick up a longer one if necessary.
Great little player!
