Fantastic idea! 12 April 2005
I've not tested this product fully, so can't comment on its performance as a card reader / writer on a PC, but this is a really great piece of kit to have if you've got a digital camera. How many times have you taken packets of photos to show friends and relatives, only to have to hold two or three conversations simultaneously telling them what was where, who's who, etcetera?

The unit is easy to operate via the remote control (for which SanDisk kindly supply 2 AAA batteries), although I thought it seemed a bit slow to display pictures. This is possibly due to my 6MP D-SLR creating large files in Extra-fine Large JPEG mode, so it may be faster at lower resolutions

Thanks to the unit allowing a second CompactFlash card, you can copy from your camera memory card. The unit gives you the option of compressing the copy down to approximately 50-60k, sufficient for TV viewing but not for print. Sandisk claim you can get about 2,000 photos on a 128MB CompactFlash card using this facility.

Great product 23 Jan 2007
As with a previous seller I haven't tested this product as a USB reader/writer, but as it's main function it is very good for viewing photos on TV. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is that it is a little slow to load full resolution images, however if you compress the images to 640x480 resolution (Very easy to convert a whole batch of files using irfanview freeware), it works excellently. Might be faster with full resolution images if a fast flash card such as Sandisk ultra or extreme is used??

This is junk 2 Jan 2009
If you think you can simply remove the SD card from your camera and use this device to view the photos on it, think again. I have a 7megapixel camera, so the pictue files are quite large. I use an SDHC card, which this device can't read. Copying the files on to a normal SD card seems to work, but is PAINFULLY SLOW at displaying the photos and after displaying a few photos it simply hangs. Finally - the remote control is quite useless. Pressing a button on it usually does nothing for about half a minute, then, when you've just about given up waiting, it either hangs, or (if you're lucky) responds. In short, this device is basically useless.
