From the Manufacturer

Supercharge Your PC Or Game Console

Supercharge your PC or game console with pro-level read and write speeds for consistent performance you can count on 24/7/365. Trusted by pro-gamers and leading VFX studios.

24/7 Consistent High Performance

SanDisk nCache Pro technology uses a powerful two-tiered architecture to cache smaller file writes, enabling faster speed and consistent 24/7 high performance. nCache Pro does this by accumulating small writes in the buffer and then consolidates them into larger sections before writing them out to the main NAND flash memory array.

Endurance and Reliability Where It Count

Over-provisioning and over-clocking offer performance and long term endurance whilst thermal throttling protects critical drive components against extreme high temperatures to ensure data integrity.

Always Know What’s Going On

The SanDisk SSD Dashboard software tool lets you know exactly how full your drive is and how it’s performing in real-time. It also includes S.M.A.R.T. support to monitor the health of your SSD in real time to prevent data loss. Third party cloning software offers are highlighted, too.

A More Efficient Drive

Cool, quiet and more efficient than a hard disk drive [1], your battery lasts longer on a single charge and your laptop has a longer life.

Trusted by the Pros and dedicated to flash memory from day one…

In 1991, SanDisk pioneered the modern SSD and, even after 27 years, they continue to expand the boundaries of storage.

I think enough have already been said about the insanely fast Sandisk Extreme Pro and multiple benchmarks have proven it's superiority over most of the similairy priced SATA III SSD drives. So I won't bother with that. What I'd say is this: unless you are moving very large files on a regular basis between different SSDs; you may not notice much of a difference in comparison to a cheaper MX100. If you are moving from a mechanical disk or will be copying files to a "lesser" interface medium such as mechnical disks, USB, external drives, you may be better off with a cheaper model as you will be constrained by your write speed anyway. Benchmarks are synthetic and the actual advantages may not translate well in real life.
For me, moving from an older X25-M I have to say Windows boot up is not significantly faster; however transferring 30Gb+ files between SSDs is an absoloute God send. You'd have to do that on quite a regular basis to justify the cost and time savings. For my scenario, I felt that it's worth it. The 10 year warranty is an absoloute monster and is probably the best you'll get from any manfuacturer and is a testiment to their confidence in their QA. This is my 3rd SanDisk SSD purchase and I am yet to face any issues. Overall, a worthy purchase.

Had major issues with this drive, it all started a couple of months after a new build, windows would randomly crash at first I thought it was a memory issue so started running tests however when that became fruitless I started looking elsewhere which is when I discovered to my horror that the plastic stub surrounding the SATA Connector had split away from the Drive. On removal of the SATA Cable the drive was left with just pins, the plastic from the drive was wedged inside the SATA cable header

I could have returned the drive for replacement however due to the drive being used in my companies machine this was not a good idea due to having no way to reset the drive and destroy the date first.

So I performed a DIY repair by stripping down a SATA cable and soldering the wires directly to the pins, may sound a bit nuts but I have been soldering small components for over 25yrs now, anyway within 25 minutes I had a fully functional drive again yaay

I have written to Sandisk regarding the poor quality of the plastic stub and await there reply I am a little worried due to having over 20 Sandisk drives currently in use.

While looking at this SSD from the outside, due to its dull exterior person may think that this drive isn't anything special.

However, this offering from SanDisk is as good as it gets at the time of writing this review; it is marked improvement over the older SATA2 SSD. This SSD is fast performer at SATA3 (6G) speeds. You get read/write speeds for multitasking, gaming, or reassigning large files. The case is made from robust aluminium, and should protect against shocks and vibrations. A nice and useful touch is that the SATA connectors also give a nice reassuring *CLICK* and lock into place with SATA cables that have metal clasps. As with most SSDs you will have the added benefits of quick boot-ups and shutdowns compared to a mechanical drive. Also an SSD will, by and large be cooler, quieter, and more energy-efficient than traditional hard drives. The Performance for this drive is excellent, however, in order to exploit its performance advantages you will need to utilize a motherboard with SATA3 (6G) connectors, something in the range of Intel's native SATA3 controller (Z68/Z77/X79/Z87). Another good thing going for this drive is that it introduces innovations such as low latency write buffer called nCache that uses some of the spare area of the drive to boost performance.

With this drive you get a good 10 year warranty - which should give some piece of mind, this then is SSD that would work well in refurbished old build PC, new build PC or NAS storage.

I spent a lot of time reading reviews.

I use a mid 2012 MacBook Pro, mostly for work, but carry a lot of data. My hard drive has to be encrypted. Anyway, I bought this and an inatek aluminium case - you need something to connect this SSD to your computer so you might as well buy something that will house your old drive. I bought this because it was well reviewed, from a company I trust, and with a ten year warranty.

I also considered getting a new Samsung Pro but didn't think I would notice the very slight increase in performance.

All I can say is that it has revolutionised my computer experience. Everything is instantaneous now. In particular, I need to use some Windows programmes and have Parallels and Windows 7 installed. That used to be a two or three minute wait, now it loads in about ten seconds.

Installation was simple. I used Carbon Copy Cloner. It is free and very straightforward, though I had about 680Mb and it took about 8 hours to clone. Still it happened first time and without a glitch. Don't forget to buy a set of Torx screwdrivers - the Lindy ones on Amazon are great. In fact, that's all you need if you buy an inatek case as that comes with a perfectly good screwdriver which will let you open up your Macbook.

This is the single most effective thing I have ever done to a computer. The speed is now fantastic. You will not regret doing this.
