Product Description

Product Description

The Samyang 35mm T1.5 Lens with geared, manual focus and aperture control rings, is optimized for digital cinematography. The aperture ring has been "de-clicked" for smooth iris pulls, and depth of field markings provide an essential aid to focus pullers. Optically, this lens is identical to the Samyang 35mm f/1.4, which is known for its excellent sharpness, contrast and bokeh.

A hybrid aspherical lens and multi-layer coating produce sharply defined images with a minimum of flare and ghosting. There is slight vignetting at T1.5 on full-frame sensors but this is almost non existant by T2.0, and APS-C or MFT sensors will probably never see it. The 35mm lens focuses as close as 12" (30.48 cm) from the lens. A bayonet mount, petal-type lens hood is also included.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Video Lens 8 Jan 2013

The cine mods (lens gears) for this lens are great and will work for any follow focus. The focus and aperture rings are so smooth which is why its perfect for video. As for the dealer, delivery was extremely fast and very well packaged. The added warranty is also a extra bonus. Im certainly going to use UK Digital again! Perhaps for the 85mm cine version!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Lens 22 May 2014

I researched for a looong time before purchasing it. I am using it with a 550d by now so it is something close to 50mm. I considered this over the sigma 50mm 1,4 for two main reasons: chance to use it in case i upgrade to full frame AND the cinema ergonomics. Declicked manual iris is super usefull while shooting run & gun AND the focus ring feel is superb (taking into account the pass infinite)
At 1.5 it does produce some vignetting but hey, witch lens does not at that apertures?
If you come from a set of photography lens for shooting video, this is going to blow your mind in terms of sharpness and low light performance.
