this game is basically an improvement to the original, but a lot better.new legendary warriors, each in a unique story with branches and multiple endings. By your own hand you will forge a new destiny for Japan!
Extending on the original Samurai Warriors title, Samurai Warriors Xtreme Legends is both a game in its own right and also an expansion pack of the original game. The game allows the player to continue from the original version by adding four new legendary warriors with unique new stories and multiple endings. New battle scenarios from the era are added as are new weapons, skills and items. When Samurai Warriors is "re-mixed" with Samurai Warriors Xtreme Legends, new characterisations are added to the stories of other characters and characterisations from Samurai Warriors Xtreme Legends will appear in the original storylines
Features include:
Four new playable characters -'Loyal Samurai' - Tadakatsu Honda , 'Warrior-Princess' Ina, 'Unifier of Japan'- Hideyoshi Hashiba and 'Warlord' - Yoshimoto Imagawa.
Lead a campaign on the new battlefield of Komaki-Nagakute!
New VS mode stages, new Survival mode course and new difficulty levels.

I suppose i was one of those fans of the original game that knew the graphics weren't the best and getting more items for your characters was a real task.But i carried on regardless trying to fulfill the different outcomes to get that supply team or find that treasure in the abyss and going on all the difficulty levels to get those kickass weapons.What a trial!
I remember playing and wishing that you could upgrade the characters more instead of it stopping when they got to twenty in their rank.Anyway i had a list of ideas of how to improve the game and maybe i got a bit carried away.I thought surely in the next game they'll have for instance;new battlescapes,new characters,not such a limited character growth system.
Now the thing is they have added new characters,ONLY FOUR.They have added a few new battles for the FOUR new characters.
The game lets you "remix" SW's with SWXL's and you get the fifteen original characters back,but wait whats this?You have to start them all from rank one again?Do Koei not realise how much blood,sweat and tears have been shed over collecting items,powering up characters,going down the abyss!!!The thought of having to play as Noh or Oichi again just kills me.I know i might well be ranting.I guess what i'm saying is buy it if you haven't played it and are wanting a game that is a great deal of fun.Oh how i remember those halcion days of battering through the massed ranks at Kawanakgima,what fun.But now this veteran of the wars is just a bit disappointed with this game.I think Koei has taken advantage of SW fans and released something that looks a bit better and has 4 new characters,but apart from that nothings really changed.I loved the first but to basically play it again from scratch,to me,is a let down.
Bring out SW2 PLEASE!!
