The story takes place in Japan in the early 21st century, in an alternate reality where the Tokugawa Shogunate has remained in power. In this reality, student councils are tasked with oppressing schools. Yagyuu Muneakira is a high school student who rebels against his student council with the help of girls who've had the names of famous samurai heroes passed onto them.

Samurai girls is one of those animes that is what you would call under the radar-it should not be!This anime is amazing its got the right blend of action,comedy,outrageous naughtyness and a good stroyline,the art of this anime is amazing,very comic book like,some of the best visuals and art i have ever seen,fight sequeences are epic.
Predominantly focussed at male audiances i feel female anime fans would be able to watch this for its comedy elements i personaly would like to see another season of this anime,it rivals other anime such as naruto and bleach but surpassess them with a comedy element,noteably a mature age rage is order for samuria girls where naruto say has a younger age range as well.
12 fun pack,outrageous comedy episodes with 6 side storys,very naughty indeed.

What can I say that has'nt already been said Girls swords comedy and plenty of fan service.

Reading the reviews for this dvd and having watched the volume myself, I do not get why it seems to rate so highly.
I did not like the graphics, it was different to what I was used to with other anime. While I enjoyed the comedy, the plot was way too thin for the amount of fan service on show: why even try to have a story at all!
