Beautiful 9 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
Samuel Palmer works embody a world we will never again see. The landscapes he create have an intense lyrical, mystical quality without ever becoming too sickly sweet or saccharin. In the best of his paintings theres an unspoken religious side as if it's this beautiful simplicity that needs to be bowed down to if anything.

This is a wonderful collection, embodying almost all of the lyrical landscape art Palmer produced in a large format that allows you to get sucked into his world.

A wonderful book! 12 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback
This beautifully produced book obtainable at a bargain price through Amazon is the catalogue of an exhibition shown at the British Museum in 2005/6, and in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2006. Beautiful reproductions of paintings of night skies, villages, sheep, trees, and many other aspects of 19th Century rural life, by the wonderful and innovative painter born in 1806.

A treasured book 12 July 2010
Format:Hardcover
I have been captivated with this book for a couple of years now. I return to it frequently. If gives the viewer a very intimate insight into Samual Pamler that never ceases to inspire and move me. This book is of high quality too, only enriching the process of immersing oneself into Samual Palmers world.
