5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing quality 26 Jan 2012
This monitor is amazing quality i've just bought another one which now makes three in our office. We also have Apple cinema displays and these Samsung monitors are like for like in terms of colour and image quality but at a fraction of the price. I would highly recommend ones of these, you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars So much potential... 13 July 2012
Verified Purchase
I bought this monitor coming from a 24in HP IPS monitor, which was shutting off at random and is out of warranty. What attracted me to this monitor was its power saving features and generally positive reviews regarding image quality and colour accuracy (after calibration).

The overall design of the monitor is very nice indeed - a slick and thin profile that stands out from the bulky excesses of the HP monitor. As mentioned before there is a paucity of accessories - a single VGA cable seems at odds with DVI being standard nowadays. I've heard that the build quality of the casing and stand isn't up to scratch; couldn't be further from the truth. It's solid, really easy to put together and very easily adjustable. There's a nice little option of hooking up the power brick to the back of the monitor for easy access to the switch from the monitor, rather than having to hunt for the thing in a mess of cables. That said, the connection from the brick to the monitor is rather short. The video, audio I/O and USB 3.0 sockets being placed vertically on each side, rather than underneath, help greatly when hooking it all up as well. There's no HDMI socket, but you can get an HDMI to DP adaptor for fairly cheap.

Now to turning the thing on. It's fairly quick, with just a short period of scanning which ports are active. The power light is a nice subdued blue (which flashes on standby at a slow beat). Initially everything's a bit too bright - the monitor is not factory calibrated. There is a fairly comprehensive set of OSD controls that allow you to adjust the brightness, contrast, colours and so on.

As stated before this monitor uses a relatively new panel technology called PLS, which is supposed to improve on IPS in terms of image quality, efficiency and response time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading advertising from Samsung 1 Feb 2014
This product was previously advertised at WQHD resolution (2560x1440) on their website but only supports a maximum resolution of 1900x1200. Samsung refused to replace my monitor with one matching this specification as their website is 'subject to change'. Awful customer service and blatant false advertising from Samsung.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very impressed 23 Mar 2012

I took a gamble on this monitor as most reviews I've read said they have very bad backlight bleed and the same thing was echoed my most owners on various forums. The one I got has just a very slight BLB, definitely not bad enough to return it and I'm quite picky about my monitors.

Gotta love the 16:10 resolution. Fast paced games work well and are crisp and clear with very little ghosting at least to me (depending on monitor settings) though my previous monitor was quite old so maybe I'm just used to it now but it should be fine for the casual gamer (I play World of Tanks and some Call of Duty MW3 type games).

Amazon states that this is a TN monitor but it is not, it is a relatively new technology developed by Samsung called PLS which is why it has such good viewing angles and colours. Also, the screen is semi-gloss which is a good compromise between glossy and the aggressive AG coating (yuck!) like Dell and LG apply to their monitors. It's easy on the eyes, whites are white and colours are decent but will look much better after calibration.

The package accessories are very spartan just the manual, drivers, power adaptor and plug and a VGA cable ... like anyone uses that anymore. Seems Samsung could have at least included a DVI and even DisplayPort cables seeing as it's such a new monitor.

Only giving 4 stars due to the very spartan package contents and slight backlight bleed.

That's all I have to say. I'm very happy with the monitor over all my only caution would be to write the seller before buying to make sure you can return the monitor should it have bad backlight bleed and make sure that you can get refunded for the return shipping.
