Purchased about 7 months ago, this camera is mainly used for taking pictures of items to upload to our company website or for Ebay sales. I've not really explored all the camera's features, as I have really only used it in 'point & shoot' mode. However, image quality is superb, even on the lowest resolution setting. The camera feels well made and quite 'weighty' without being too heavy for comfort. Zoom and menu mode controls are nicely positioned and the screen gives a bright and clear image that is still quite easy to see in bright sunshine. Start up time is minimal and the flash re-charges quite quickly between shots - unlike my previous 8 year old digital camera that seemed to take an eternity!
A previous reviewer expressed disappointment at the failure of his screen after a short time. (He doesn't specify if this was due to damage or internal failure.)
All in all an impressive camera for the price and one which would suit a wide range of users, from taking family snaps to maybe something a bit more serious. Like I said, I haven't yet explored all the camera's features and menus etc. Supplied with USB lead (for charging from PC or laptop etc) and mains charger.

This is a great camera. Pictures and video are really sharp. My wife has a Lumix FX550 costing 4x as much and the Samsung is better. The autofocus workr much more quickly compared to the FX meaning most pictures are perfectly focussed. The zoom is also much better.

Bought this camera as a replacement for my usual one which went swimming in the sea with me. Amazed by the optical zoom. 18X is usually only found on camera's in a much higher price bracket. The smart setting is more than enough for any day to day photo needs but the camera includes a huge array of modes and settings if you want to get really technical. £64.99 from argos outlet on ebay.....You'll do well to find anything close to this good for even twice the price!

Verified Purchase
There are cameras with more megapixels out there but they don't take photos like this. The photos this camera takes are simply wonderful. Even better than an SLR I have.

12 megapixels is more than enough for most people and I think this is an ideal camera at this price bracket if you can get one. There are more modern cameras out there but I'm sticking with mine.

Even the video it takes (720p) is really high quality. Thoroughly recommended.

I purchased the camera a year ago, I have had problems with it almost from the start, I have returned it to samsung on two occasions for repairs but it is still useless, the problems I have had are, the camera completely freezing, I couldn't even turn it off, I had to take out the battery to get it to turn off, its very slow at taking photo's although at first it did take good quality photo's, until it went to samsung to be repaired then the photo's were very poor, the photo's came out either yellow or green, and also the wheel on the top of the camera thats used for zoom was sticking, so yet again I had to keep removing the battery to turn off the camera, after asking samsung for a refund they refused but said they would repair it again, by now I had lost all faith in samsung and the said camera, so after the second repair, I now have a camera thats very slow to take photo's and is still freezing, almost forgot to mention the video picture quality isn't too bad but the sound is terrible, I have now decided to buy a olympus camera as I know they are good quality and their customer service is also good

I don't actually use a camera very much and this one is certainly my most technically advanced so far.
It seems to make a good job of taking pictures on fully automatic mode. It also will do a credible job of making an hdmi video which I can display on my tablet but my net-book just hasn't got enough capability and skips frames and stalls badly. So don't blame the camera if this happens on playback on a device lacking in processing power.
Be aware that a few functions will not work till you add a memory card to the camera. The on board memory isn't very much and you are better to add a memory card. I found a class 4 was all that was needed and a 16gb class 4 will only cost around £5 and give lots of space. If you have a tab the micro card with adaptor is best for ease of swapping files.
I don't like the proprietary Samsung USB charger cable and wish it was just a standard USB cable. It is one more cable to carry around. I seem to need almost 10 to get everything I have to work when going on holiday. Non standard cables should be outlawed.
The telescopic lens just worries me, particularly the way it pops out when the device is powered on.
Maybe they are like this on all cameras of this type? It just seems in danger of being accidentally damaged. I would have preferred a second button to activate it. I have accidentally pressed the power on button but luckily nothing was in the way of the lens. I bought a set of 6 screen protectors but it would be nice if one was supplied with the camera. If you buy a camera you might want to buy screen protectors at the same time and a memory card and possible a spare battery.
Other than the possible fragility of the telescopic lens everything else seems sturdy enough and I think it is good value for money.
