For images that are stunningly true-to-life you need the 3 Cs: contrast, color and clarity. LED TV Series 6 has them. Its Mega Dynamic Contrast feature brings out all the shades of grey. A Wide Colour Enhancer Plus with LED gamut ensures every entire pixel is robust and vibrant. This enables the TV to display a wider range of natural colours and provide greater depth, even with subtle colours. Plus our 100Hz Motion Plus technology removes edge-blur, leaving your picture smooth and crisp. And your jaw, dropped.
Unlike other "slim" televisions, LED TV Series 6 is one of the slimmest televisions in the world. Instead of multiple parts molded together, it's one solid, seamless, incredibly beautiful advanced television. Elegantly supported by a unique crystal neck, you'll have no trouble finding a place for it in any room.
Utilising enhanced black expression with low haze by optimising the light’s phase and increasing the transparency ratio in ultra clear panel, the new Samsung full HD TVs can reduce reflection of out light and increase contrast.
Your mind won’t believe your eyes. That’s how breathtakingly stunning the picture quality you get with Samsung’s HyperReal engine is. Enabled by Super 3C Realization, the picture is as unrivalled as it is unbelievable. This way, you’re never just watching a movie, you’re living it. Every moment will ring truer, go deeper, feel stronger, look richer. Hard to believe when you’re on your couch.
Samsung continues to be inspired by the beauty found in nature and our latest HDTVs reflect that. Each of our series represent different elements found in nature—Metallic Sensation, Mystic Earth, Stone Black, Rhythmic Lines, and Sierra. And the understated tones change depending on the viewing angle and environment. Skillfully sculpted and ultra-slim, our new Samsung HDTVs are the essence of beauty.
An amazing picture isn’t enough. To really get the full experience from what you’re watching you need SRS theatre sound. Its realistic audio envelopes you with rich, stunning surround sound. And with discreetly hidden speakers, it’s all about the big picture.

Have just upgraded to this after 10 years with a Toshiba CRT.
My TV also exhibits the searchlight problem in all four corners. It appears to manifest itself when the backlighting is switched on when the screen is showing a predominantly black image. It looks like a problem more to do with the software not recognising the dark area and reducing the backlighting (my two cents worth). If this was rectified I don't believe it would be noticeable. Typically (on my set at least) it's noticeable (if memory serves) when switching sources, or waiting for a source device to activate (i.e. no input signal). But generally whilst watching media I've certainly not noticed the effect being present. HD channels look amazing, very little quality difference between freeviewHD (more HD channels) and freesatHD (negligibly better), almost imperceptible. Have to say that my old CRT had 5.1 surround built-in and was quite loud and boomy. I was worried that I might need a home cinema system as our lounge is a fair size. I found this was not necessary I'm not going to lie about it the bass is not comparable (the TV simply doesn't have the capacity to produce that sound given it's dimensions) but it does a good job and at a quarter volume the sound is pretty loud if a little tinny, certainly louder than I'd like it. I find it acceptable and am not considering the home cinema option at all. Still you have to consider that I've just moved into the 21st century, from a failing 28" CRT to a 40" LCD. I love the looks, a shame the whole front doesn't have a single piece of glass to protect the screen. On mine if you gently press the screen you get a ripple effect like you see on PC LCD monitors. Also the standard HDMI cables I've bought (nothing more than £15 each) still stick out slightly from behind the side of the TV when plugged in, didn't really want to bend the cables too much to hide them. The TV came with a free bluray player and 6 movies, the bluray player and TV connected to the internet without a single problem (I used the "homeplug" equivalent system). The bluray (Samsung BDC5500) required a firmware update but the TV did not. The upscaling combined with the resolution of the telly works perhaps a little too well, whilst they make DVD's (like the original star wars trilogy) look and sound fantastic, the resolution is so high (compared to how I originally viewed it) that you seem to be able to notice all the rough edges of the movie. Even toy story on bluray looks most vertainly computer generated, whereas the DVD version on my old CRT was softened to the point of looking more movie-like. Overall I'm pleased, I appreciate it has it's failings but it has it's plus points and is exactly what I expected. After all it took me several years to choose this telly (was going to buy one last year from samsungs 2009 7series) but I'm glad I waited.

We have just upgraded from a SONY CRT taking advantage of the Amazon offer + the Samsung cashback and we are still in shock - the picture quality compared to our old TV is unbelievable. We decided upon the Samsung LED due to the design and after setting up the TV in the living room, we were more than pleased with our choice.
Picture quality: we have tested the TV picture quality with DVD's (the picture quality when watching Quantum of Solace was so clear it was as if the film was set in our living room - wow) and sports via NTL cable and we have not seen/found any dark areas or ghosting or any dead pixels. As mentioned previously, the picture quality is fantastic. Sound: have not yet purchased a Blu-ray player or any extra sound devices, just using the standard inbuilt sound system. Have read previous reviews but we are very happy with the quality which works very well in our living room - Blu-ray surround sound can wait until the prices have dropped. Setup: The part that took the longest was setting up the other devices and trying to keep all the cables tidy. Once this was done and the TV was put onto the new table, connecting all of the cables and configuring the TV was done in literally 10 minutes - very straight forward. Internet setup: decided against buying the dongle at first and see if I could connect the TV via the on-board LAN connector to my switch/router - VERY glad that I did this as I have saved myself £50-70 on the cost of the Samsung internet dongle. By plugging the cable into my internal network and assigning an ipaddress I was able to connect to the internet and download the necessary updates and applications. Have not tried Lovefilms yet for quality over the internet but have tried BBC's iPlayer and the picture quality is good and clear. Summary: Gorgeous looking TV, fantastic picture quality, good quality sound. You will not regret purchasing this TV it is brilliant - very very happy customer, money very well spent :)

Before I bought this TV I read the reviews carefully and it was pretty much as expected. On the plus side the features on this TV are amazing. The internet features and media features all worked perfectly just by plugging it in. The user interface to set things up was very obvious. Almost instantly I had IPlayer working, video streaming off a hard disk drive plugged into the USB port, and wireless internet (using the little internet stick I also bought). I was also very pleasantly surprised to be able to view photos that were on my laptop on the home network with a simple setting change in windows media player.
The only down side is the well publicised problem of the backlight on dark screens. If you have a uniformly dark screen then you get quite noticeable starbursts of light bleeding in each corner. This is dissapointing if you were not expecting it but it has not affected my enjoyment of any other features of the TV. It looks great by the way (I got the black one because I couldn't face having a wood surround on a TV). The stand is really really nice. Build quality is also excellent. I would really recommend this TV.
