Okay, first things first... The TV arrived the next day and in pristine condition (DPD next day courier service) so that was all dandy. So my plan is using this TV for my bedroom and I'm reviewing this TV after owning a series 8 plasma Samsung tv for a few months, which is my living room TV so I've kind of had some good experience with a modern set...

But anyhow, onto the TV. As soon as I opened the surprisingly slim box the set came in I was overwhelmed by just how thin this thing is, even compared to the series 8! I've never really looked at an LED set properly in a retail store or anything so the size of it was very impressive. In general the complete aesthetic of this Samsung TV is impressive, the ridiculously thin bezel which makes it look like a big picture frame on my wall is just lovely and the clear "glass looking" edge really gives it an ultra modern look.

After admiring the TV some more and hanging it on my bedroom wall with the "HD Zone 'picture frame' mounting system" (also purchased through Amazon), I connected up my Xbox 360 and HD Freesat to two of the four HDMI ports this set features. I was quite worried at first after reading another reviewers take that the cables would stick out a little bit if I didn't use right angled HDMI's, I needn't worry though as I didn't seem to have this issue even with the pretty thick ethernet HDMI's I'm using, you've just gotta give 'em a little bend back on themselves and it does the trick!

As soon as I got to turning on the new set the picture quality was way more than I expected! I immediately felt that, for the price, this TV is such an excellent buy. I must admit that running standard def... well, 576i pictures through this screen are a bit lacking but high definition channels and gaming on the Xbox are just incredible. As much as it pains me to say this, considering the difference in cost between the two, I'd say that there's hardly anything separating this TV from the one in my living room :|
The series 8 does have a better colour reproduction, which isn't really surprising seeing as it's a plasma, but in terms of definition their pretty much on a par.

I feel that for anyone looking for a 32 inch led set at the moment this is the one to go for. The look of the TV really is quite something and significantly against the other competing brands the picture quality is just excellent, especially considering the price of the unit. At the moment I wouldn't really worry too much about getting a 3d ready TV especially if you're likely to upgrade this set again within the next 3-4 years. I've used 3D honestly only a couple of times on my other TV and I don't see the point really, I find it a hassle using the 3D glasses and I don't feel it's a comfortable and completely rewarding experience for the effort...
3D's got a way to go yet, but in the meantime grab a decent quality '2D' set like this! You really won't be disappointed...

Very Impressed 6 Jun 2011
By mbarker
After opening the Samsung UE32D5000 i pleasently supprised with the overall quality of the TV. The TV looks very high quality and feels it too. The picture quality is excellent in HD and pretty average for standard definition. The ports on the back of the TV are placed on the side at the back, which if the cables are thick and stiff they may stick out at the side, but this can be avioded by using an angled HDMI cables for example. This model of TV produces exceptional high definition gamin which really helps enhance the gaming experience. Some reviews mention that the sound quality is'nt upto scratch but in my case i was very pleased with the sound quality. Of course its not quite a surrond sound system but it produces a nice amount of volume and clarity.

A good TV!!

Nice TV - Eventually 27 May 2011
By Joel
Got this TV from Amazon as it was £100 more expensive everywhere else. Its a great looking set, feels really high end. Actually getting a TV that worked properly was another deal though. The first one arrived with dead pixels, which Amazon, to their credit, agreed to replace quickly. The next one arrived in a smashed box (courtesy of CityLink) and had blemishes on the screen. Amazon sent out a new one, which (touch wood) has worked fine so far.

Im using the TV as a PC monitor mainly, and once you set it up for this using the advanced menus on the TV then it really does look gorgeous. The quality is A*. I use it for desktop applications, gaming and movies, and it switches between them all with no sweat. Has a few nice features like on the fly preset image mode switching so that you can have a preset for movies and another for games etc, changes in a second and works lovely.

I also have it set up with my PS3 and Xbox 360, both of which are fine on it, the colours are a little vibrant for my tastes, but its not unbearable.

One issue I have noticed is a little bit of ghosting when dark objects move across a light background. A good example is fast scrolling text on a white webpage, or a dark object moving across a bright sky. This can make dark objects appear less sharp when the camera moves a little.

Cons -

* The input ports are on the back facing the edge, so if you dont have right-angled HDMI cables then you have cables looping round the side.

* Screen is glossy, so reflects light and any other display sources you might have. Also picks up grime a bit easily. (The trade off is a more pleasing image when the environment is right.)

* Can take a bit of fiddling with contradictary options to get the display 'just right'.

* Some image ghosting with dark on light.

Pros -

* Looks fantastic.

* When properly configured, phenomenal display in movies, games, PC use and general TV.

* Very impressive sound for such a thin set. Nice things like changeable audio profiles are nice too.

All in all, comes recommended from me, shame about the hassle getting a working set, but I suppose the fact that I got one in the end is a credit to Amazon customer service.
