Great value for money 22 July 2010

I bought this TV as a replacement for my old 19 inch LCD. After debating between getting this and and a larger LCD, I decided to go for the LED and I wasn't disappointed. The backlit screen really is worth the extra money and there is a discernible difference in picture quality between this sort of TV and standard flat screens. Colours are crisp and clear and although this model isn't 1080p, the 1080i and 720p outputs still look great on an HD source - I regularly play PS3 games and blu-rays on this TV and the picture quality is excellent.

From a technical point of view, this television is very easy to use. There's a quick set-up guide included in the box along with more detailed instructions, so if you don't want to be bombarded with reams of jargon from the word go then this is the TV for you. I was literally able to take it out of the box, plug it in, auto tune the channels and watch my favourite programmes in a matter of minutes. Admittedly, I did do a bit of headscratching when it came to fixing the TV to its stand but I think that's mainly a consequence of my inability to put any self-assembly product together rather than a design flaw on the part of Samsung!

This television is currently in my bedroom and doesn't look out of place or dominate the room. At 26 inches it's fairly large and as such the fact that it is incredibly thin and aesthetically pleasing only adds further to its appeal. In all, this is a very attractive looking TV with excellent picture quality that represents good value for money. The only slight downside is that the sound quality isn't outstanding, but this is true of most other televisions of this size anyway.

So in short, if you're looking for a mid-sized LED TV that doesn't completely break the bank, look no further!

Having recently rebuilt our kitchen I wanted a very slim TV to mount on the wall and was therefore attracted to LED models. I didn't want more than 26" screen size so the Samsung was the only choice. (Note that this is an LCD TV with LED backlighting so "LED TV" is a bit misleading.) I chose a wall-mount that tilted but was still only about 60mm deep so, with the TV itself only 30mm deep, the result is a pretty neat fixture. In terms of performance the Samsung is very capable and the LED backlighting probably makes for better blacks and better contrast than normal LCD TVs (which have fluorescent tube backlights). My other TVs are both Sony LCDs and the Samsung's default settings result in much more vivid colours (too vivid, in fact. and it takes a bit of messing around to get the colour back to what I would regard as acceptable). LCD TVs with LED backlighting also have the advantage of low power consumption compared with other LCD TVs.

I've taken away a star from my rating in view of the premium pricing. But if you want a thin elegant installation then this is a good choice.

A word on wall mounting: Unusually for a 26" TV, it requires M8 bolts. These are pretty chunky and are not supplied with the TV. My wall mount (not from Amazon) was purchased as suitable for Samsung 26" TVs but was supplied with M4s and M5s. I went to B&Q and bought 25mm M8 bolts but I had to drill out the holes in the wall mounting plate to take the larger diameter. It all was ok in the end but bear that in mind if you want to attach this TV to the wall.

This TV is not widely available in the UK and is not on Samsung's UK website where the smallest "LED TV" is 32". It seems as though the UK is not a target market for this product.

A great looking lightweight TV that produces a stunning picture and reasonably good sound from a paper thin TV. The sound is perfectly adequate for a kitchen/family room environment but probably not so for a lounge as the main TV for which you would probably need and external amplifier/speaker system. I had already assumed this before purchase.

The only con that I have found is that I cannot organise the freeview channels in the order I would like them - perhaps this is possible but the handbook is not to clear but, that said, the TV sets itself up automatically with very little input required from the user.

I have already recommended this set to a number of my friends and I believe it represents great value for money.
