I needed a mobile that was strong, functional and with useful functions without all the added nuisance of applications left, right and centre.

I'm a sports specialist in a school and due to the nature of the job, need a sturdy, reliable phone that is well protected and does what I need it to. It has a loud ring, stopwatch (which I have used as backup when mine went on the blink) and is happy being thrown around in the side of a kit-bag or training jacket pocket whilst working/coaching away from site.

It's clear speaker and decent mic makes talking not a problem, although there is a tendency for those I'm talking with to report an echo on certain networks but as it's mainly used for texting and emergency calls for school, it's OK, (I'll admit it's not the loudest on the market, but it's not the quietest either) and whereas it's not seen as 'cool' by my students, that also means they aren't constantly asking me to see/play with it like previous more fashionable phones like my old Motorola or colleague's iPhone.

The mini flashlight is handy and bright enough to see my way to the school minibus in an unlit car park in the middle of winter, and locating the lock through the mud splattered door in the shadows.

It took some time to get used to different key controls compared to my old phone, but these are small inconveniences. I'm not a big texter but can get by with the predictive text easily enough.

The material is very grippy,(rubberlike) and it doesn't slide about when I put it in the tray whilst driving, so I can keep an eye on it when traipsing around the country lanes in the bus.

Seems a sturdy and very robust phone. Takes a lot of abuse on the construction site which is what my husband wanted. Looked at the JCB phone as well but this is considerably cheaper and equally as good. Have set phone on ring/vibrate, can receive calls when machinery working close by, keep close to skin. Good decision to buy.

I'm very happy with this phone, but it may not appeal to everyone. At this point I should perhaps outline what, for me, are the most important features of a mobile phone: (1) It should allow me to conduct conversations with others, by means of either voice calls or text messages; (2) It should have a calendar/reminder feature so that I can set up audible warnings to remind me of appointments I have completely forgotten; (3) It should be of robust build - I do look after my phones and try hard not to damage them, but I certainly don't want one that disintegrates when you press a button; (4) It should have good battery life. The Samsung M110 scores very well on all these issues. Voice calls are always of excellent sound quality, and there is a very easy to use switch on the side of the phone that turns the volume up or down during a call. I communicate mainly by text, and I have, in reviews of other phones, suggested that the Nokia texting interface is by far the best. Moreover, with Nokia it doesn't seem to matter which model you get - the texting interface is always the same. Strangely, this doesn't seem to apply to Samsung. I have recently had access to three different Samsung models (the C300, the B2100 and the M110), and the interface is slightly different on all three. However, if like me you use predictive text, then most of the interface on the M110 is very similar to the Nokia system - the slight differences just take a bit of getting used to (the space button in a different place, for example). The buttons stand nicely proud of the front surface of the phone and are well spaced out, so texting is easy and comfortable - you can build up quite a speed.Read more ›

I bought this for my partner and it's ideal. He doesn't surt the net but wanted a good phone to just call and text peopl. He has dropped his many times on job sites and it has gotten dirty and wet and still goes without problems. It also has a long battery life which will last for over a week if you don't use the phone much or a few days if you do use it a lot.
