After a lot of deliberation and research I finally decided to purchase this laptop because it offered both great mobility being light, robust, thin but at the same time does not compromise on other feature. It has a full keyboard without combining multiple function buttons onto one button, it includes a DVD drive and also has a large memory coupled with the SDD for super fast start up. All in all a quick and well designed laptop with all the features you'd expect

BUT,

I have read a number of reviews about the wireless adapter (Intel Centrino Advance N 6235) and how a lot of people are having problems with this part of the laptop, experience frequent and unexpected loss of connection. I have the exact same problem and it is very frustrating to have to reset the wireless adapter several times whilst using the internet for no apparent reason. It is sad that such a top of the range laptop comes with such a simple fault and so far I have not found a fix for this yet. I have followed the instructions of a number of online sites discussing this problem suggesting to update the driver for the Intel adapter (to v 15.2) and also uninstalling it and then re-installing the latest driver from the Intel website. None of this seems to have solved this issue. I will do a bit more research on this but otherwise have no choice but to return this laptop. I don't understand why Samsung and Intel have not found a permanent solution to this problem yet.

I bought it in the summer when Samsung were offering £100 cashback. Picked it up from J Lewis (sorry Amazon) for £799. So if you buy it here (£619), it's cheaper even without the discount!

Good points: Rock solid reliability, quick startup with its cached drive (about 15s from power on to login, another 10s to desktop), fan is very quiet. Haven't heard it switch to overdrive yet, unlike my old Sony Vaio, which sounded like it was about to take off. Currently watching TV in background and cannot hear anything from laptop apart from clacking of keys. Screen is matte. You'll either love it or loathe it. If you use laptop outdoors it might suit you; not so good if you like viewing pictures or watching DVDs, catch up TV on BBC iplayer, youtube etc. Battery life (currently 4 months old) is very good- can get about 4-5h before needing a recharge. I run Windows 7 and MS Office 2010 and it is absolutely fine- I just want an unobtrusive machine.

Bad points: Advertised as an ultrabook, but it is HEAVY. Wouldn't recommend carrying it about- suggest you buy its smaller brother without DVD drive and touchscreen (Samsung NP540U3C-A01 Ultrabook, Intel Core i5, 1.7GHz, 6GB RAM, 500GB, 13.3" Touchscreen; 1.4kg). If I had the chance to swop, I would probably go for the latter, but not with Windows 8. But that is for another review...

As a Samsung fan, I have always bought their products (I own a fair amount of Samsung products) knowing that I get quality, cutting edge technology and style. Not sure that is the case with this laptop. Like other reviewers mentioned, the very day I set it up for the first time I couldn't really use it as it wouldn't connect to the Internet with my router beside it! When it did connect, it froze and refused to move to another page. Will be sending it back.
N.B - For an Ultrabook, I felt it was a tad bit heavy.

Firstly, just to address this wireless issue: I had exactly the problem being discussed by others here with a previous laptop (a Dell XPS 15). I had to return that one because it couldn't be solved. The wireless on this Samsung laptop, though, works perfectly on exactly the same network - with everything else exactly the same. So don't be put off buying it by the problems some people are reporting.

Buying laptops, like most things, is a matter of taste. For me this one is fantastic and, for what it's worth, having had a Dell and a few Toshibas before, I'm now converted to Samsung.

I purchased this laptop before coming to uni in August, I have had no problems with it, it is light and easy to use. I really enjoy that it has a reasonably long battery life and starts up really quickly. Have had no wireless problems (which is surprising as the uni wifi is pretty awful)
I dont know all that much about laptops, but for student use its really small and light and suits my needs perfectly :)

I bought this on the evidence of many good reviews and was excited taking it home to check it out. Unfortunately like many other reviewers here I found that the wifi was extremely shaky and would drop completely very quickly. I was thinking of taking it back but decided to check out the Intel site for drivers. After downloading the latest wireless proset for windows 8 I ran this and hey presto the issue is gone ! Stable wifi at last. The laptop is very sleek and well made, boots up quickly and has great performance. For the price its a well equipped and solid all rounder. Just make sure you update drivers for the wifi.

One star is too much for Samsung customer service!!! Got to say that Samsung ultrabook bought me with its nice look and weight and size. This particular model had quite good hardware and that was the main reason for buying it... and... I will never do that mistake again>>>

Due to Samsung/Microsoft configuration it is impossible to have two OS-es installed. Especially for Linux systems this thing is just build to trouble you either installation or uninstallation will change into late long and troublesome operation. This thing is build to make your life miserable if you attempt to change OS and even worse when you remove partition.

And there we go my biggest problem with Samsung is that they deny to give you your own copy of Windows that was bought with the laptop. They claim that copy was delivered on the hard drive so if you formatted your drive/ changed it for larger they deny to provide you with OS that you paid for!!! Instead they propose sending you the laptop to their repair centre where they would fix the problem for you for only £60...although there would be no problem if they could provide user with the OS disk/download site or possibility of buying one. Samsung for the time I lost talking to you on the phone and difficulties I had with OS-es I promise NEVER EVER AGAIN SAMSUNG PC !!! will find place in my home.

BTW after 18 months my battery lasts less than 2 hours, and guess what - battery cost on Amazon £188 !!! To hell with you Samsung...
