Product Description

Samsung's new battery powered 3D Active Glasses are the gateway to Samsung 3D entertainment. Impressive both in how they function and in what they allow you to experience, the technology works as follows: When you put them on and look at the screen, the technology first blocks the left and then the right lens. It happens faster than the blink of an eye - so your eye won't notice it. But when images are shown to each eye separately this "staggered" effect achieves far more lifelike 3D images. - 3D Shutter glasses enable viewer's 3D experience - TV has built in 3D Emitter.

5.0 out of 5 stars In reply to the other reviewers concerns, 1 Sep 2010
This review is from: Samsung SSG-2100AB/X 3D Glasses - Battery Operated (Electronics)
One of the other reviewers stated concerns with regard to the light not staying on and therefore causing alot of flat batteries.

After doing a few minutes research on this I hope the following information is of assistance.

The glasses switch themselves off if after 3 minutes if the emitter in the tv is turned off. This is either done rather obviously by switching the tv off or by turning the tv to 2d mode. This should sort out any concerns with regard to battery life and as the batteries last for 50 hours and cost roughly £4 for a pack of 12 (approx 600 hours) they are not exactly costly to maintain.

The glasses themselves come in a cloth pouch and come with with a felt cleaning cloth. I myself wear glasses and these are comfortable to wear over the top of them and are relatively light (lighter than the sony ones anyways). They seem sturdy enough and thus far have proved very good.

Lastly in regard to the other reviewer saying it wasnt what he expected as the 3d did not come out of the screen....... well it wont. The type of 3d done on tvs at the moment is more akin to looking through a window onto another 3d area. You wont have bullets shooting past your head it doesnt work that way as a rule. Peoples best bet is to go down to their local electrical store and get a demonstration before purchasing so they know exactly what they are going to get.

Hopefully this helps prospective buyers out there.

These glasses are great, because a pair of personal glasses do fit in them, so that both people with glasses and no glasses can watch with them. They use battery, but don't be concerned, a battery is included, and you can watch up to 90 hours, until you have to change the battery. The battery is one of these flat ones, you can by a bunch of them for a low price: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-Specialist-Lithium-Batteries-CR2025/dp/B002EVOA4K/ref=pd_bxgy_ce_img_b
The only thing that I do not like is the price of these 3D glasses. It is way to expensive and yet there aren't so many movies to watch in 3D.

4.0 out of 5 stars They're comfortable and they work., 5 Oct 2010

3D glasses aren't cheap so it matters that they work (a basic expectation) and are comfortable. These glasses do what they're supposed to and are surprisingly comfortable. We both wear glasses so putting these over them could've been a problem but we thought they didn't get in the way and we hardly noticed wearing them, even after an hour or so.

Some aspects about 3D telly are going to get people giving bad reviews on the glasses etc, but in fairness the technology isn't perfect yet so don't expect the image to come jumping out at you as much as you may have seen on some films at the cinema or at the theme parks.

The only thing about these glasses that I have a problem with (apart from the cost) is the power button. When you press it to switch them on/off, you can't see the light because your finger is covering it. This is such a daft arrangement that it's amazing that they did exactly the same with the more expensive rechargeable version. Then again, you soon know if you've got it right because the image on the TV will change. Obviously.

I also have two pairs of the rechargeable ones as well and although they are a bit more comfortable, I would only recommend getting them if you aren't worried about the cost or don't like the idea of going through lots of batteries.
