I got this camera as my old Samsung ES28 (12.2 megapixel) camera was starting to look a little worse for wear and I'm very glad I did as I have been very, very impressed with the SH100.
The camera itself is a lot thinner than I expected and very light comapred to the ES28, which means its great for fitting in your pocket / bag. On the camera itself The power, home, and zoom buttons are all very easy to access and are very responsive which makes it very good for getting quick, or last minutie photos. The battery lock is also effective at the bottom in that it has a "sweep accross lock" on the cover itself, and the power / usb outlet it covered by the same somewhat flimsy plastic cover the ES28 had, which seem to be becoming common on samsung cameras these days. The camera also has a large 3.0 inch screen which is touchscreen (the camera comes with a "pen" a-la blackberry / nokia phones or Nintendo DS, it has 5x zoom and a pretty loud speaker too.
The camera comes with an internal Lithium battery pack (so no need for AA/AAA batteries) which is charged by either USB to pc, or by attaching a plug end (which is supplied) to the end of the USB cable which enables you to charge it from the mains. The battery life seems to be very good too - I've charged it only once so far and I've had a used it a fair bit over the past and a half week and I still have 1 bar left. The Camera uses a MICRO SMD card, which is NOT included with the camera and with it being a 14 megapixel camera you will need a card with good memory to hold the photos. At present I'm using a 4GB card and it holds 900 photos when set to 14 megapixels. The SH100 also comes with Itelli-studio and Auto PC auto back up "built in" which means it automatically detects when its connected to a PC and opens the "intelli-studio" automatically, so there is no need to install or download any software to get it up and running on a pc!
Some of the great features this camera has is HD video recording, "magic frames" (which include some fun billboard ones), different photo shoot modes which include "beatuy shot", night, and close up, along with a very simple to use photo editior. There are 3 different playback modes for photos and videos too - the original "click and scroll", 3d album and magazine which allows you to "categorise" photos such as travel / family etc. There is also a voice recorder funtion too which, picks up sound very well too.
However the real beauty of this camera is its WiFi connectivity. This means that as well as being able to transfer from camera to pc remotely, or camera to camera remotley, you can also upload your photos staright to Facebook / MySpace etc and your videos to YouTube; the camera also has a function which allows you to email photos directly from the camera too - providing your in a wireless internet area. The Camera will even remember passwords for private networks, and typing in the codes is very easy thanks to the on screen "pop up keyboard" which come us when you need to types such codes in. This I would say is the camera's main feature and it all works very, very well providing you have a wireless conncetion as I said.
There is another feature to this camera which is great but I'm not currently unable to try and that is "Remote viewfinder". Basically for this you need a Samsung Galaxy S or S2 and you "pair" the phone with the camera via SSID. This will then allow the camera to use the phone's GPS to map out where the photos where taken in Intelli-studio, and allow you to use the phone as a remote control for the camera, allowing far off shots etc. I currently have a Samsung Tocco and am unable to use this function at present which is a shame as I think it really would add another level of fun to the SH100.
All in all, this camera is brilliant. Its easy to use, it looks and feels great, it has loads of options which are all very easy and straight forward to use, and most importantly it records great videos takes suopeb photos. It may not be the 1st choice camera for a pro photographer and it does come with a pretty high price tag, but I would say that if you after a camera that takes good photos and you like to share those photos, then this is worth every penny.
