I got mine few days ago, I have a small office in West London and the SCX-4500 sits beautifully on my desk, it prints copies and scan.
Let's face facts, it's a printer! But if you are tired of looking at all that beige in the office and want something that looks sexy then this is a must have. It certainly turns heads in the office.
The SCX-4500 is about the size of an A3 piece of paper and is about 6 inches high. The print quality is wonderful for text, not so good for printing photos but it will do. The print speed was amazing, the box says it will do about 16ppm and true enough that's what I got. Although I did get a paper jam on my first print, this was simple to clear.
The top half of the machine lifts open to clear paper jams and to install the toner. The toner is the easiest thing to replace, just lift and rest inside the machine, no clicks, no pushing, just open and rest that's it. I actually had to reopen the machine to make sure I did it correctly.
The toner will cost you about £40.00 and will provide around 2000 prints which is about average for a machine in this class.
It terms of costs I paid £182.00 for mine, but I am sure the price will soon drop. The SCX-4500 is a little more expensive than its rivals; however they certainly don't have the style and good looks as this machine.
There are only 2 downsides to the SCX-4500. The first is that it only holds 100 sheets of paper (Common Samsung) and the second is the paper rest which does look like an afterthought.
In all, it is a very good personal use or small business use machine. It has the wow factor in terms of looks and style which will certainly impress your clients when it prints quickly and quietly on your desk.
This is certainly a wonderful show piece.
