5.0 out of 5 stars No tears, no tantrums 14 Feb 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
It took my son a couple of minutes to show me how to transfer the data from my computer to this. No tears, no tantrums, no swearing, no fighting. (At least, not THIS time.)

My computer, on its last legs, is crammed with precious photos and documents so it is reassuring to have this back up before I take the plunge and buy a new one.

The thing, the whadyamcallit I am reviewing is neat and unobtrusive, about the size of a wallet and just as portable.
I am told that its capacity is ENORMOUS and I can just keep cramming stuff on to it with no fear of running out of space. I am told, therefore I believe.

Message to my fellow technically illiterates :- Easy as pie. Any idiot can drag and drop.

And a word of praise for Amazon and its Express Delivery....on Friday morning I did not know external hard drives even existed; by Saturday lunchtime I was happily using one!

Bought this item less than 2 months ago, I was pleased with the product at first but it has now failed.
It simply blinks and beeps and does nothing. The awful thing that I have saved 500GB of valuable data on it. Samsung says the hard disk does not use a standard sata interface. So I cannot open it and move the disk to a different enclosure to access my data. It looks like the unit is sealed.
I may now have to send the unit to a data recovery company possible at a cost of hundreds of pounds. Do not buy this item. Non standard sata interface.

5.0 out of 5 stars Samsung 1TB USB powered External Hard Drive 7 Nov 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
Having been stung badly by Western Digital (their unreliable Micro-USB connectors are causing fails on 50% of the drives) I managed to get all my family/kids/wedding etc pictures (which had to be expensively recovered from the faulty WD drive) on this very easily. I reformatted the drive to NTFS as soon as it arrived and it hasn't put a foot wrong. In fact it's been so reliable I've now bought a second for my Dad's PC. The shiny plastic top is protected by the free pouch that Samsung supply and hasn't scratched yet. This is how drives should be; simple, rugged and faultless. Well Done Samsung!

5.0 out of 5 stars As expected, works very well!
No reason to fault it! Works just as expected, which is quick to both read and write! Certainly worth considering at the £45 that I purchased it.
