With the Samsung ML-1865W printer, sometimes the best things in life do come in the small packages.

Setup is a cinch with our secure, one-touch wireless connection

The ML-1865W One Touch Wi-Fi Setting lets you connect quickly and easily. Simply select the WPS (WiFi Protected Set-up) button on the access point (router), press the WPS button on the printer and you’re done. Normally, you would have to spend time creating a wireless network name and manually entering a security key or password on all the wireless devices. But the ultra-convenient One Touch Wi-Fi Setting automatically configures — and protects — your wireless network for you.

Big features, small footprint

Looking for bigger performance from a desktop printer? Think smaller. Measuring a ultra compact 341 x 224 x 184mm (13.4 x 8.8 x 7.2in), the Samsung ML-1865W easily fits onto any size desktop while leaving plenty of room for you to get your work done.

Capture what captures your eye

Samsung’s AnyWeb Print software lets you go hunting and gathering on the Web. You can utilise the ML-1865 to easily select, drag and drop content from different web pages onto a printable scrap board in your browser window, all while you surf. It’s the easy way to collect, arrange and edit those useful reference points and resources you can only find on the Internet for that big project or just for fun.

A printer with brains and beauty

Finally, your desk can look stylish because of your printer, not in spite of it. The Samsung ML-1865 laser printer has an elegant exterior design, sure to fit in with any workspace. Its glossy top cover looks chic and polished while offering dust-free protection. Spiff up your space with a desktop accessory that actually helps you work better.

One less noisy office distraction

You shouldn’t have to struggle to hear yourself think while sitting at your own desk. That’s why the Samsung ML-1865W is engineered to be whisper quiet, generating a noise level of less than 50 dBA while it’s printing. That’s less than the gentle hum of a running refrigerator. A desktop printer that does its work while letting you focus on yours? Cool.

Lessen your wait, not your expectations

Quit losing productivity waiting around for your documents to print ? the Samsung ML-1865W fast print speed (18ppm for A4 paper, 19ppm for letter-sized) will have you back to work in no time. The ML-1865W features a first page output time (FPOT) of just 8.5 seconds and an impressive 1200 x 600dpi print resolution, satisfying both your need for speed and your demand for quality.

That’s why the Samsung ML-1865W features an easy-to-reach power button right on the front panel, so you can switch to an energy-saving standby mode at the push of a button. Ready to print? Just push the button again to power back up, and you’re ready to go.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super printer, but can be rather a pain to set up 9 April 2011
By McStick TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This Samsung printer is definitely one of the most compact mono laser printer's I've seen - It's probably about three quarters of the size of the HP model which it's going to replace. It also has the added advantage of being wireless (in theory) and therefore you can use it with multiple computers without a complicated wiring system.

Initial installation was relatively quick, however I found that I had to reinstall on several occasions because the computer didn't seem to be able to re-establish connection with the printer after it was shut down. From what I can determine, this was because the IP address which the printer was allocated on initial setup was later being used by another computer, and hence when the first computer looked at the IP address for the printer, it found a second computer using it instead! This then required a re-install of the printer, so that it could be allocated a new IP address.

It looked like a single re-install might have solved the problem, however I was quite frustrated at having to re-install again after finding myself in the same situation as before - the computer couldn't locate the printer! I have now decided to use a static IP address that I'm pretty sure nothing else will use, and am hoping this will avoid any future conflicts. (I'm sorry if all this explanation makes a wired setup sound much easier, but the truth is, if you only plan on using the printer with one computer, it probably is. On the other hand though, if only one computer is being used, you probably won't run into all these problems in the first place!)

After getting round all the initial teething problems, I've found that this is a very decent printer for moderate usage. It's relatively quiet and can also manage to print a decent 18-20 pages a minute.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good printer for the price but not perfect 9 Oct 2011
I bought this printer based on the positive reviews here and am relatively happy with it.
It is certainly compact and quiet and very easy to set up. The wireless printing function is extremely useful if I am working in another room and want to print without a connecting wire.
However, the printer went through a few days of telling me it had a paper jam every time I pressed print when it didn't and I had to go to the printer to open it up and close it again for every sheet printed!
Apart from that, which may be a small glitch, I am happy with the product.

Be warned though that, as with ink printers, it only comes with a toner cartridge with a little in, so after 2 weeks of not much printing, I am having to spend around 55 on a new toner cartridge. It's definitely worth buying one at the same time as the printer so you don't end up, like me, having to wait days for a new cartridge before being able to use the printer again.

Initially I was vey impressed with this printer. It is very easy to set up with a USB cable and prints very well. But I have been compelled to write this review after one year of using the product. Every now and then you print a page and it just does not print. Then you go to the printer and the error light is on. Then you realise the printer is not connected wirelessly anymore, no reason why. The only thing you can do is, take your USB cable out, connect the laptop using the cable then set up the wireless network again from scratch. In 12 months of using the printer, this has happened to me about 20 times (and if you are not very computer literate, like my wife, you might have some trouble setting it up). I went to the Samsung website and I can see that there are several other people who have complained about this same issue in the "Community" page but nobody from Samsung has bothered writing a response, which tells me they do not have a fix. I bought the product reading the reviews from Amazon, so I thought I should write a review myself. Seems like a lot of people are satisfied with it, so the issue probably does not appear with everyone, but it definitely happens to quite a few people and there is no solution. So if you want to buy it, please remember that you might not be the lucky one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick, easy and compact 27 May 2011

This printer is very easy to setup and use. I have set it up with my network and works perfect. It is very compact and fits very neatly on my desk. It performs very fast and efficiently and is very quiet when it prints. A very good buy.

Indeed this is one of the best looking printers I have ever bought. Very sleek, very compact, understated presence (great for small office) and great printing quality. BUT... connection via WiFi has so far been a pain for me. I have a virgin media wireless router (by Netgear) with a WPS button so connection should have been really simple. Pressed WPS button on printer control panel for a few seconds... blue led flashing (searching), pushed WPS button on router to start searching and waited for connection. Connection was established (blue led stayed on) and samsung software 'saw' the printer. I was then invited to have a test page printed. Problem is, the printer status indicates that it is not connected / not available. Tried repeating process many times with no luck. I then tried the manual wifi connection to see if it makes a difference. No luck. Tried disabling the firewall and start all over again, no luck. Connection can indeed be established through the WPS buttons (at least it seems to be) but status of printer appears to indicate 'not available' and I cannot print. When printer is connected conventionally (Via USB cable), things work fine. I may have missed something fundamental, who knows. However as things stand, I have a beautiful wifi laser printer that is used as standard wired laser. Had I known, I would have paid less to get the non wi-fi version. A quick search through forums indicates that some users find it very easy to set up wifi ... others complain of problems like mine. Feelings of mild disappointment...

PS: If anyone has a constructive idea for fixing this, I am all ears /eyes :-)

3.0 out of 5 stars Generally okay
I bought this because it was recommended for cheap printing. It suits my purpose, but the paper feed is slightly crooked which is why I can't give it a higher score.
