So, a class 6 card, reasonably priced. Well, most people may assume that means you arent getting the high quality you would get at a higher price range. Not so.

The card comes in standard packaging, but with a rubber case that leaves the top open, seems pretty secure to me, even has some elastic to connection to a keyring (though i wouldnt advise doing that in all honesty). The card worked, though comes in at 15.2GB (why they dont give you drives that actually format to the proper size I shall never know). But anyway, to test were the claims regarding transfer speed and durability.

    Speed Test 1:
Made a 1 minute video (approx 88 MB) and transferred it to my computer. It took 6 seconds (using the ever reliable operating system clock), that is 14.6MB/s, the claim by Samsung is 12-13MB. I cant complain about that.

    Speed Test 2:
Watched the same video from my computer, took around 5 seconds to load, 17.6MB/s that would equate to, not at all bad.

So both speed tests succeeded in surpassing the manufacturers claims (though i must say that neither of the above were at all scientific experiments, and are just times that I experienced, you may have a totally different time).

Durability Test 1: Drop the card into the sink and leave it there for 5 minutes, remove, record, and tranfer to PC 1 minute of footage, checking the transfer rate.
Result: Successful, no loss in tranfer speed/damage to the card. It still worked. (though I can only verify it to a depth of about 20cm, any further you will have to do yourself). Only downside is that it sinks, would have been nice if it floated, then if dropped in water you wouldnt have to dive down and get it...

This is a great card - is class 6 so will deal happily with full 1080 HD format, and is fast for up/downloading. Its metal (!) and is fully waterproof and has just contained the last 3 weeks in California RV trip for me!
    Recommended.

Hmmm what can one make of an SD card finished in brushed aluminium, that will survive being run over by a 1.6tonne vehicle and 24 hours of immersion in water? If that's not enough to float your boat, then what about being resistant to a magnetic field of 4000 gauss or 10000 'mating cycles'??!

If you are a complete techno-geek or a budding James Bond, then no doubt the preceding info will enable you to sleep easier knowing that your 'top secret' data will be safe from the ever complicated attacks of SPECTRE, but to your average Joe all you need to know is that it won't break if you stand on it, or stick it through the washing machine with your wallet. Having said that, the 10000 mating-cycles is impressive, even if verging on the techno-erotic....(sorry been married too long!) Still, it's nice to know that if you were unlucky enough to fall off a cross- channel ferry, before getting run over by a Toyota Prius after making it back to Dover, your sd card will survive, even if you do pop your clogs in the MRI scanner at the local hospital....

On a more serious note the write/read speeds are excellent 15mb/s and 20mb/s respectively and the little rubber case that it comes with is quite snazzy compared to the usual tiny plastic cases. All in all if you want a bombproof sd card with a ten year guarantee then look no further.

This SDHC card is class 6. Purchased for use with a Kodak ZX5 camera. The card itself works perfectly, no issues with corruption etc as it's new. I haven't tested it's waterproof or shock capabilities but see no reason why it wouldn't be as stated.

Comes packaged in the usual cardboard sleeve wrapped around plastic.

Update: I dropped the card into a sink of water by accident while testing out the ZX5. I didn't put it straight back into the camera (Kodak says the card must be dry) and dried it first with a cloth. Put it into the camera and switched on, memory card working fine with video still on it. So it survived a brief exposure to water.

There are cheaper cards out there from less well known manufacturers but at least with Samsung you know what you're getting. And what you're getting is a decent reasonably high capacity SDHC card that definitely lives up to the speed claims it makes. It worked faultlessly running any media files I threw at it and data transfer to my PC was definitely zippy.

Also comes with quite a neat little cover which I'm hoping floats, though I haven't tested it yet.

I have this permanently plugged into my MacBook Pro for backup purposes and it works flawlessly. I use Snow Leopard's "Backup" utility (you have to download it from Apple's support website) choose which folders I want to backup and a schedule, then if that folder ever changes it gets backed up at the next schedule. I use Time Machine too but it's good to have critical documents backed up to more than one location.

This is a solid, seemingly durable SD card of a reasonable size that sits at the high end of the SD market : the write/access speed is more than capable and probably suited for high speed use in fast motion environment (not having access to a rock band or sports event at short notice). The capacity and transfer times are solid, and whilst, in event of a nuclear explosion, I understand all that will survive are Lemmy, cockroaches, and this SD card, though I don't want to test its waterproof abilities. It appears reliable, sturdy, and high-speed, high-impact usage suitable for the dedicated, pro level user at an entry level SD Card price. A fine piece of work.
