After looking at various TVs to replace my ageing 32" LG I settled for this Samsung 40" after reading the good reviews and I wasn't disappointed.
Right out of the box you can tell that the unit is nicely designed and built. I got it hung on the wall and plugged up quickly and ran through the easy to follow set up procedure.
Picture quality is really good considering the scare stories you hear about larger TV sets and SD pictures. The built in noise filter works well with most modern SD programs. Indeed, a few times I've had to see whether I'm using a HD signal or not. Give it a full HD signal and the result is spectacular. Crisp vivid images with nice black tones without endlessly fiddling with the many picture options. I haven't changed much from the default and I'm very happy with the result.
Considering the small downward firing speakers audio is very good. Wide sound with lots of detail.
I can't recommend this TV enough. The price is a steal.

I purchased this TV as I wanted a bigger screen. I previously had a 32" Toshiba which has gone upstairs. Easy to set up, I have a V+ box so didn't bother with setting the Freeview channels. The picture in SD is great, really clear but in HD it is awesome. The FA Cup yesterday was great to watch in HD and nature type programmes and Bear Grylls type channels are superb in clarity and detail. The sound is fine - I don't have a surround sound system and was "concerned" that the audio might not be that great but after a few tweaks of the equaliser it is fine. There is a touch of red that appears around the frame but it's hardly noticeable. Under the Samsung logo you may see a red light on pictures of this product but you can't really notcie it when you have the TV set up. I did query this with Samsung as I thought maybe this light should be more noticeable but it's not a light at all - more of a marketing thing I think. I have used the USB connection to watch photos and films which work well. My Toshiba DVD player however does not play colour pictures - shows films in black and white. Don't know why - it is a scart to scart connection. But anyway I have purchased the Samsung pebble DVD HDMI player which I will collect tomorrow to hook up to the TV. However the Wii which also connects via the scart (3 component leads into a scart) plays fine in full colour. So if you fancy a nice big screen (especially for the World Cup) I would definitely recommend this one - and it's a good price.

I bought this TV because it had been well reviewed in a specialist magazine and it was very keenly priced. I think it is excellent value for money, it has a good picture, as good as several more expensive sets and better sound quality than many other TVs at the same or higher prices. It is easy to see from a wide angle of view which we need in our living room.
