There is a feature on this TV called "Dynamic Dimming" which can cause the image to flicker/strobe on certain TV broadcast signals. I found this really annoying, so on doing a quick google search I found the answer.

If you switch your TV OFF using the remote, press INFO followed by MENU followed by MUTE then switch it back on again you will see the Service menu on screen, go to option 2 and find "DYNAMIC DIMMING". Then switch it to OFF.

Doing this will improve your viewing pleasure with this TV.

After doing loads of research and looking at reviews in various places, this came out on top.

I got mine about 2 weeks ago now and I am extremely pleased with it.

Not only does it look good, but it is a great TV.

Simple to use, easy to setup, loads of options for sound and picture, connectability is good, headphone socket and freeview is a bonus.

Best of all it's great for DVD's and my xbox360 (it's got a gaming mode too) the Xbox on high def looks fantastic (fight night round 3, wow!)

Only downside I could find is the sound is a bit poor, hey you don't buy these TV's for the sound do you? I just use an external sound system and it's perfect.

Summary:

I wasn't sure which TV to buy and was doing loads of research, I can recommend this TV to anybody, Very pleased.

Buying a high defintion ready TV has been on my mind for a while now, and I finally took the plunge a couple of days ago.

With the new R7 range being brand spanking new and with a lack of reviews currently available I tentatively took the plunge, got the set home and switched on. The results I'm pleased to say are fantastic. Set up is very straight foward, effectively being plug and play - just keep hitting return and within five minutes the jobs done, with all your freeview stations set up and ready to go. The improved contrast ratio on the R7 makes for a truly dynamic and rich picture quality when watching DVD, although I would advise anyone looking for a truly cinematic experience to pick up a decent speaker system - sound quality is good on the set, but does lack any resonance in the bass end.

As with most LCDs I've checked out, satellite picture quality is somewhat variable - if your signal strength is good you should get a pretty decent picture, but if like me your reception is a little below par that high quality screen really can show up the shortcomings. That said, try switching to the 'movie' setting in the picture menu and tweaking the settings minimally and setting the screen tone to cool 1 or 2 - I found this gave a much better picture for Sky.

Overall I would highly recommend this lcd, particularly if you plan to do alot of your viewing on DVD... and when it's switched off that high polish black surround means the set still looks good in the corner of your room.
