I am a Samsung Fan, I love the design and aesthetics of everything they do.
After 2 Samsung tv's (a 46" series 6 and a 26 " series 2) I decided to upgrade the series 2...
Thinking this wouldn't be 'that' much behind the newly bought, and Highly impressive 46" series 6, I bought this Series 5 without question...
Pluses -
It looks good
Colour scale and contrast is good
Minuses -
REALLY REALLY BAD SOUND - I spent ages trying and trying to get a decent sound set up and it struggled, badly, particularly with music (I know you don't predominantly buy a TV for music, but it was most noticeable here...not with base, or treble, just 'in general' like it wanted to give up?...) also, conversations in programs and movies were not intelligable at various points.
Motion blur, in comparison to tv's since and before, was terrible - Xbox games showed this up. I'd very much doubt its 5mS as advertised, particularly in comparison to the tv's marked below (and this is regardless of what picture settings I adjusted)
No audio headphone jack - the first... ever... tv... I've known, not to have one :(
Was unfortunately happy to return it in exchange for a different model
I'd recommend Philips 32PFL5604H (my current tv) or the LG 32LH4000 (a friends tv, which, similarly priced, I compared my now departed Samsung 530 to...and knew I was 'had'), particularly if looking for 1080p playback. Sound on both is fantastic (particularly the Philips, with strong loud base :), and picture settings for both are intuitive and easy to get perfect results.
I still love samsungs... But am now conscious of looking elsewhere before buying... a shame :(
