Pros - excellent suction, very adjustable, useful cradle. Works
Cons - stiff ball joint, limited reach.
The suction cup base works well. It came supplied with an alcohol wipe to clean the screen before attaching but I found that it wasn't needed and in fact the cup stuck to the windscreen instantly on first contact without applying pressure or working the suction mechanism. Note that the suction cup pad itself has a small tab sticking off the rim that is used for peeling the pad away from the screen. This is useful as it's very difficult to do without it. It's hard to see the tab when attached to the screen so check before sticking. Full suction is achieved by rotating the bulbous part of the base. this is easy to do and once done the cup isn't going to come away.
The arm that extends from the base is adjustable, in preset steps through 180 degrees, by depressing a button where the base meets the arm. at the end of the arm is a ball joint that will allow you to twist the phone into any orientation or angle. One gripe with this ball joint is that it's very stiff, so stiff that the first time I moved it I was concerned it would break. This stiffness has not lessened in the few weeks I've had it and can make it difficult to adjust whilst stuck to the screen. The benefit of the stiffness is that you don't need to worry about the phone moving out of orientation while in use. My other main issue with this holder is that overall length is only about 15cm which limits location of installation for me, this is not a deal breaker though.
The Cradle attaches to the arm using a simple friction system, sliding onto the rails on the arm. This works well and does not show signs of loosening although that may change over extended use. The cradle itself is perfectly designed for the phone, with access to all ports and buttons as well as holes in the back for speaker and camera lens. phone is held in by a small rubber roller at the top of the cradle, it's secure and won't damage the phone. Note the cradle is for the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and is unlikely to fit another phone.
If removed the cradle has a kick stand on the back that will prop the phone up in landscape (volume button side down only) which I have found handy although the single orientation is limiting and the kick stand difficult to get out.
Item was delivered as described and in good time.
At this price I would recommend this holder to anyone with an i9000.
UPDATE:
after some weeks of use and leaving it in a hot car the ball joint has loosened up considerably, not so much as to be a problem, and works as it should.
