I was a bit aprehensive about buying this soundbar after reading of the unfortunate experiences of others. However, I need not have worried. This sounds pretty good. I got it to improve the sound of my Samsung 37D6530 and it certainly does this. The soundbar supports ARC and Anynet+ so everything integrates very nicely - for example, if you switch sources on the soundbar from Blu-Ray player to Sky HD receiver, the Blu-Ray player automatically goes into pause. Also, the system automatically disables the TV speakers so the TV remote control controls the soundbar directly. One minor niggle is that when the TV is powered off using the remote, the soundbar is also powered off. However, powering on the TV doesn't power on the soundbar so you have to fumble for the dedicated remote or use the front panel.
The unit looks really good and sets off the TV nicely. The sound is good, although I don't care for many of the presets (the sports mode is plain silly) and the 3D spacial function is pretty ineffective. The sub-woofer is quite subtle, not the sickening booming that some systems give. In fact, I initially thought it was faulty as I couldn't hear much coming from it but, on removing the power to it, it quickly became obvious just how well it was working! It would be unfair to compare this to a full surround system as this is only 2.1 (an expensive one, granted) but it still turns in a respectable performance. I would agree with a previous reviewer's comment that the mains lead shouldn't be permanently attached as it will make some installations difficult.
The iPod/iPhone dock works very nicely and sounds good. The dock itself is rechargable so the iPod/iPhone can still be put anywhere in the room while listening as it doesn't need to be connected to the mains. If the iPod/iPhone is docked when the dock is being charged, the iPod/iPhone will be charged as well - a nice touch.
