Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The slim, compact Samsung HW-C450 AudioBar home theatre system can be mounted on the wall, with the wireless subwoofer placed anywhere in the room to achieve maximum audio. Connect your HDTV (Samsung LED TVs are the perfect match), then sit back and enjoy the show along with 280 watts of 2.1 channel virtual surround sound.

The wireless subwoofer enables you to place it anywhere in your room
The wireless subwoofer removes the need for leads and gives you the ultimate flexibility

Wireless subwoofer

You'll really feel the sound with our 5.8GHz wireless powered subwoofer, but you won't see it: since it's wireless, you can place it anywhere, even behind furniture or in a corner. And since the WiFi technology in Samsung's home theatre systems runs at a higher frequency of 5.8GHz, there's no interference from other WiFi units such as routers.

With virtual surround sound processing, it feels as if rich, high-quality sound is all around you

Virtual surround sound

Imagine an increased sense of spaciousness from a 2.1 channel audio system. With virtual surround sound processing, it feels as if rich, high-quality sound is all around you—from only two front speakers and a subwoofer.

Transcendent sound with Crystal Amp Pro

Finally there’s a home theatre system that values audio as much as visual. It’s the Samsung HW-C450. While typical home theatre systems rely on digital amps and tend to churn out mediocre sound, the HW-C450 utilises its own unique, patented, high-performance Crystal Amp Pro technology to create a world of unbelievable sonic clarity. It dramatically enhances sound quality through its multi-variable feedback of sound signals, transcending the average-sounding output of your typical systems.

Smart Volume technology lets you make adjustments and determine settings so that volume levels are evened out

Wall mountable

Are you a fan of minimalist design? Just want to free up space? Maximise your room's potential and throw out your entertainment stand. With the included wall mount, it’s easy to secure the Samsung HW-C450 to the wall alongside or underneath a wall mounted HDTV. So you can enjoy an elegant, cleaner living space.

Smart Volume levels things out

Some channels are louder than others. As if that weren’t enough, volume often varies between the programme and commercials, not to mention between action scenes and dialog within the programme. But Samsung’s Smart Volume technology lets you make adjustments and determine settings so that volume levels are evened out and you can enjoy your favourite shows, movies and sports without constantly fussing with the remote.

Having just purchased a 40in slim line TV I was not happy with the sound quality, not wanting to clutter the room with speakers this product appealed to me and I am pleased to say this sound bar has exceeded all expectation both in function and aesthetics.

The sound is very good with the various preset sound settings available. As some reviews have mentioned, this is not so much "surround sound" as a "vastly improved sound". Even music played using an ipod via the 3.5mm input sounds OK (not Hifi quality but what do you expect - it's made for TVs, if you want Hifi go buy one). The wireless sub woofer needs a dedicated power supply but has a separate control for the bass level on the remote which is very handy.

PLEASE NOTE: If you own a Samsung TV and only want to use one remote for both TV and the sound bar you have to adjust the soundbar "av sync" control to "nil" as it comes preset to 50ms which means you get an echo. The other alternative is you set the TV sound to external speaker, but this meant I had an annoying "NOT AVAILABLE" message every time I adjusted the volume using the Samsung TV remote. Overall very simple to set up and good sound, all things linked to the TV via HDMI are played through the one optical cable supplied by changing the input source on the soundbar remote. Overall very pleased.

A brilliant piece of Sound distribution equipment, it doe's everthing it claims, it is good looking and looks as though it has been made with my Philips 42" Television in mind , not Quite compatible the Remote Control doe's not operate the T/V, I knew this when I purchased.
My colleagues like myself are amazed at the quality & massive output of the sound on this equipment.
Ordered from Amazon on the 29th. of Nov. delivered on the 2nd. of Dec. brilliant also the cheapest.

This sound - bar is quite expensive compared with some other ones, but, I am always of the opinion that you only get what you pay for and this sound - bar is very good. I have had this one now for 6 months and had no problems, connection is very easy and the feature of the sound - bar automatically switching - on when the telly is switched on is good.
I have a Samsung telly and they seem to compliment one another very well, also you can use the sound - bar control for doing the basics of switching - on the telly and bar and changing channels and switching - off the t.v. and bar.
When you go to the t.v. menu and switch on the t.v. speakers and mute the bar and then do the opposite to hear the difference is when you appreciate getting it. Finally another good feature is the wireless sub - woofer which enables it to be placed anywhere in the room without any trailing wires.

We bought this sound system because we rent the flat we stay in and didn't want to hassle with wires etc. It's AWESOME. There's more 'volume' (there's probably a better word for that) than anyone could ever possibly need, and an awesome wireless sub that does the job perfectly. We love this purchase - it turned out relatively small (40") TV into a mini theatre room. Obviously you don't get the actual sound coming from behind you like you would if you installed speakers somewhere behind your head, but you get a very nice effect, especially if you place your sub at the back of the room (which is dead easy since it's wireless).

More money than sense, I hope not. Why do makers of TVs believe that instead of watching and listening we are looking at the thing side on. Gosh! how thin it is....and so is the audio.

I recently bought as a second TV an LG PG550 plasma, wonderful set by the way. As it was at the low cost end connections were limited and the only audio out was optical so it reduced my options. No cheap 2.1 system connected to a phono which I may have considered.

I was determined not to have wires all over the place, and this system is a delight, the bar needs power and the supplied optical connected, the sub put where you want needs power only, switch on and you are ready to go. I like the way the optical detect the TV tun on and switches itself on similar to a scart. A winner if you have a Samsung TV, as the remote will operate that as well.

My TV is on a stand so wall mount not needed but it seems a dead simple fix if you go that way.

Conclusion....sound is very good, it can immerse you in sound but you don't get gunshots behind you, type of thing, it a 2.1 system. It is expensive considering the limited connections, for a few pounds more you can get 2.1 systems with loads more and more power. I looked at one that was only marginally more but a review mentioned the fan in the sub, no that is too heavy for me. This system for what it does is so neat and simple and feels and behaves like quality.

If it is in your price range and the inputs suffice do consider it. I deducted a star due to price and connections. I believe in the KISS principle, Keep It Simple Stupid, so as I say in the title, just for the likes of me.

After having surround sound systems in the past and with all the cableing that went with them it was time to change to a system that didnt leave me having to tuck cables down the carpet at the skirting boards, the Samsung C450 soundbar looked and proved to be the answer, the main unit sits at the front of my television on the tv stand and blends in exceptionaly well, the sub woofer tucks nicely under a set of small tables opposite the t.v.and playing music through the soundbar system is brilliant and of course watching movies through the system does not disappoint.
