I have just received my Samsung HT-D6500 5.1ch 3D Blu-ray and set it up.
Worked like a dream from the outset. It detected and connected to my broadband router with no problem at all, despite the router signal not being great in our living room. No dongle required - Wi-Fi connectivity is built in to the player. Love Film, You Tube and BBC iPlayer were quick and easy to initialise and work well. I haven't had a chance to try any of the other apps from the Samsung Hub yet.
I also ordered the SWA-5000 wireless rear speaker adaptor, which again connected and worked immediately without issue. This new version of the wireless rear speaker unit is so much better than the old one that I had with my previous blu ray previous player, which had an annoyingly noisy fan. The new one is silent.
Have only tried one blu-ray and one dvd so far, but the picture was great on both (I have a Samsung 54" 1080p, but not 3D - that's next on the list). Upscaling on the DVD gave a picture that was almost blu ray quality.
Sound quality much better, more balanced and clearer than my old Samsung unit. My previous Samsung blu ray player is about 2.5 years old now and was connected though a slightly older Samsung DVD home theatre system, with plasticy old tall-boy speakers. The new, smaller speakers with this model are better quality and look much more stylish.
Overall: looks great, sounds great and works without problem. What more can you ask?
